The girl's face kept flashing through my mind and I couldn't stop thinking about her. Watching the blood spurt rom her neck. Her screaming and crying. I could feel the blood on my face. Cold and wet. And cold. I jolted awake, opening my eyes. Ismene had her cold hand pressed against my face.
"Was that necessary?" I spit. She was amused, and I couldn't help but smirk a little. It was sort of funny. She gave me my sweatshirt, and I left her bedroll. The cold felt like knives against my once warm skin.
I added some sticks and leaves to keep the fire going as Ismene fell asleep. Then I looked around for an area of snow that was untainted but dirt and such. Finally, I succeeded. I took a handful of it, and started to suck. Despite the cold, it slowly melted in my mouth, and when my hands could take no more of the cold, I threw it down.
For the rest of the watch, I sat at the fire. I wasn't going to risk the cold.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rocko was the first one awake. "Have a nice sleep, sleepy-head?" I asked sarcastically. He should have, he got the most sleep. He smiled, and took a seat next to me. "Well, we better wake Ismene up, she won't want to miss anything."
Rocko nodded, and went to wake her. I added more things to the fire, and retrieved my bag. Once Ismene joined, we discussed our next plan of action. "Okay, we need food, and we need to find warmer shelter. So, we need to figure out where to go. There were 8 of us in the sky last night, so there is 16 o us left. I assume we are spread out all over the place. We don't know what kind of animals are around, and we don't know the whereabouts of the other tributes, nor what exactly is above us, or below us. Should we risk continuing up into the mountains? It's bound to be much much colder, and I'm not sure if we have the supplies to survive it. Or should we make our way back down towards the base?" I sat quiet waiting or me team's input.
