XD sorry it's so long!!!! I got carried away!!!
Kylene
I sighed sadly.
Tonight was my birthday party. It seemed more like a 'Torture Kylene Party' to me. It was supposed to be a kind of old fashioned Masquerade party. So I was wearing an old fashioned Victorian dress. It was beautiful don't get me wrong but the thing was hot.
It was a dark green color that I thought made me look like a Christmas tree. What with red hair and a green dress. It had ruffles and embroidery all around it and the straps rested just below my shoulders. Apparently they were supposed to do that.
My hair was pinned up neatly in the back with curly red strands escaping from the design.
I probably wouldn't have anything fun to do at the party either. Abby was hiding out in my closet while I was down here, so I couldn't talk to her to pass the time. We had figured it would be better if my mom didn't know Abby was staying with me for awhile.
The only part of this party I was looking forward to was seeing Savius. He had said he would come so I was sure he would. To get the adoption papers of course
I waited in the main hall for a while, my mother bustling around and yelling at all the servants to finish the decorations. The hall was lined with shimmering sliver things that hung from the ceiling. They were electronic disks that changed color and shape depending on the mod of the people around them. There were also red flowers everywhere. They were supposed to match my hair.
One of the Avoxes handed me my mask. I smiled sadly up at him then looked down at my mask. It was simple and delicate, made of green fabric with little red swirls embroidered on it. It had a dark red ribbon on both sides used for tying it. I held it up to my face and quickly tied it on in the back below my hair.
Soon people started arriving and I was forced to greet them all. I continued to look for Savius but everyone was wearing a mask and there were so many people I couldn’t keep up with all of them. When I was finally sent off to the ball room, the first thing I did was flop down on an empty window seat. I had two seconds free before people were throwing themselves at me.
I groaned inwardly.
I was forced to accept all the dances and I automatically blocked out all the men's flirting. While I was blocking it out I looked around for Savius. It was a sea of masks but I hoped Savius would at least come and find me.
After an hour of dancing I couldn't take it anymore. Savius apparently wasn't here and I was just a stupid girl to have excepted him to come. After all he didn’t like me so why would he. I scolded myself inside, but I don’t think I was really listening some part of me was still searching the room desperately for Savius.
I walked along the wall and found a side door that led out into the garden. I looked around and while no one was watching I opened the door and slipped through.
The door led out onto a balcony that was covered in red flowers and the silver disks for my birthday. The sweet smell was overwhelming and I was dying to get away from the house into the garden. I found the stairs on the left side of the balcony and had to hold up my dress off the ground a bit so I could walk down without tripping and falling.
When I reached the bottom I breathed in the fresh air of the garden and closed my eyes. I flipped off the high heled shoes I was wearing and wiggled my toes through the grass. Those shoes had killed my feet.
When I opened my eyes and I started heading swiftly through the garden humming a random song off the top of my head and twirling in circles. It was the only thing I could think of to do to get my mind off Savius.
Sadly it didn't work.
Why didn't he come?
Doesn't he care?
I shooke my head to try and stop him from over taking my brain.
He doesn’t care. I told myself firmly.
I finally found a secluded part of the garden.
It was surrounded by a tall hedge in a large circle with only one entrance. The hedges contained flowers of all colors but you couldn’t smell them. In the middle it had a stone bench that looked like it had been used quite allot. I went over to the bench and found the small compartment on the bottom that I was looking for.
I pulled out a sketch pad and my box of pencils from under the bench and then sat on the bench. I closed my eyes and began to draw the sea of faces ad masks that had been in the ball room. It seemed busy but as I drew it I realized that it was somehow sad. I couldn't figure out why it just seemed depressing.
I whipped my head up as I heard a branch break near the entrance to this part of the garden. Setting my pencil and pad down next to me on the bench I called out, "Who's there?"
I sighed sadly.
