Lonely Days (OPEN)

Adalynn Tayloche sat on the docks of one of the many lakes in District 4. There were some fishers in other lakes nearby, but most of them were probably by the ocean, or on a long voyage. It wasn't exactly the time of year, her own brother was home, but some went on year long travels. It wasn't something she would enjoy, but it was almost an escape from the Capitol, and that was all that mattered to some people.

The Capitol. Whenever she thought of the place, she thought of the annual "fun fest" they held. Adalynn hated the annual Hunger Games. She thought that the Capitol was cruel for hosting them. She despised the fact that she had to see people die every year for the sake of amusement. She hated the sick feeling she got in her stomach every year when the reaping was held. But most of all, she hated the fact that the Hunger Games were held each year as a reminder of what happens when a district rebels, because it was all District 13, and they were blown up.

Sighing, Adalynn rubbed her forehead, trying to rid herself of morbid thoughts. She desperately wanted to dive in the water, but thought it might be a little too cold this time of year. She practically lived for swimming. She loved the feeling it gave her, almost like she was flying. It gave her a sense of freedom sailing gave some others in her District.

The winter was always a little depressing for Adalynn. There was less food because Brock wasn't working as much, which...sucked. But mostly it was the sense of purpose she got when she was swimming that she pined for. She always felt that swimming was her way of keeping in shape for the games...

And once again her thoughts came back to doomsday. That tended to happen when she was alone. Which obviously meant that she had been out to long. Rolling her eyes at herself, she started standing up, only to knock into someone and fall into the freezing lake, clothes and all.
