Rain Whitley
Slowly, I tip-toe through the woods, taking my time as I step over the many branches that are spread across the forest floor. The fresh spring air brings me to a smile. The sky starts to brighten as I enter the deeper part of the woods. I try mimicking the hoots of the owls and the chirps of the birds, hoping that maybe I'll actually remember the sounds someday, that I won't forget it. I look around me, making sure no one's there. I can't imagine anyone else that would even be awake this early. Slowly, I sit down at the foot of a large tree and set my worn backpack next to me. It feels so amazing just being myself for once. But who knows how long that'll last. In only a few seconds, I could be unknowingly trying to slit someone's throat. But I guess that's just me, the scary brain disease girl.
After a few moments of lonely silence, I feel a drop of rain touch my fingertips. More droplets start to fall from above. I look up at the sky and see that the early morning light that had been there only a couple of minutes ago, is now a dull grey. In many ways, me and rain are similar. Maybe that's why I was named after it. Because whenever rain's around, light never comes with it.
I start to stand up, ready to head home because of the rain, but suddenly, I hear the crack of a branch from a few meters behind me. Startled, I turn my head, but see nothing. "Hello?" I ask, but no one answers, so I continue, "Trust me, you probably don't want to come any closer.
I'm pretty dangerous."
