Sapphire and Ruby Carruthers
"You have to be kidding me." Ruby said to her older sister by six minutes.
The girls were walking, arm in arm, out of their parents shop, the door closed behind them and a bell tinkled softly. The morning sun was high in the sky, covered only now and then by the white clouds that floated by. School wasn't starting for another week, and once again the girls found themselves with nothing to do.
They would usually help their parents in the store, setting up lavish displays of diamonds, emeralds, pearls and other precious stones. But today they had been told to get out, to go and find someone their own age to play with.
As if the girls had thought in unison.
Sapphire and Ruby had spent every moment of their lives together, never leaving each others side. If they had a friend (which was usually very rare) it always had to be someone of their social class and they had to both like them. The other children at school were intimidated by the girls, and eventually began to avoid them as much as possible.
This didn't affect Ruby or Sapphire. They liked to be alone, to only have each other for company. They shared everything with each other- their looks, family, personality. It was like one soul had been split in half, and given to them each- being without each other was impossible to even imagine.
"I know Ruby, looks like yet another day with nothing to do." Sapphire replied, ensuring she used her perfected Capitol accent. She couldn't stand the common accent of her District.
