Run with scissors![Sole]

James nocked an arrow in his bow and padded softly throughn the woods. He drew the bowstring back gently, testing it. He wanted to be ready when he found something to eat...

The vegetation was lush and green, the newly returned spring brought leaves to the trees and emerald chlorphyll filled them in a lush display of nature's efficiency at finding food.

He was stalking a deer, he'd found the tracks, a bit of scat, he needed food, he hadn't gotten new food in ages, not much left now, he needed this kill...

James spotted his prey. There it was, not huge, but big enough to feed him for a while. He pulled back the bowstring, arrow ready to let fly...he released...

...and a knife pierced the animal in the neck, it let out a loud groan of pain, but was too weak to run. A girl, red hair flying in her wake, forming a fiery trail behind her like a comet's tail.

James' arrow was already away, and seconds later buried itself between the beasts eyes. James eyed the girl suspiciously, her cat-like, feline movements making her appear lithe, ethereal, he exotic red hair sticking out among the greens and browns of the woodland.

James raised his bow again, she could be a threat, best to be sure...

James pulled the bowstring again and aimed at the girl's head, just in case again...but he was no murderer, he made a point of shouting out, "Don't move, I'll come to you".

He padded stealthily through the forest, arrow aimed at the back of her head, he advanced until he was right behind her.

He couldn't be sure, but she didn't look to be far off his own age, her red hair distinctive, but he couldn't tell much about her from looks, especially just from the back of the head.

He poked her lightly on the back with the arrow "Who are you?" he said, "What are you doing out here?"

Fluidly James raised the bow higher, instincts finely honed from years in the woods telling him in a chant Bow up. Arrow ready. String back. Aim for the eye. Arrowhead strikes through to brain, instant kill. He only did the first two though, the weapon came up, te arrow aimed for her eye.

"You should tell me" he said, "Because there is a high likelyhood of you getting an inch of steel and a foot of oakwood through your skull if you don't. Now, who are you, a Capitol scout?"

James glanced over her, she didn;t look like one, young, athletic seeming, attractiv- No, don;t think about that, too soon, she left, you still feel the pain, not again

"Good" James said, "Then drop the knife, you do that and I'll lower the bow, but I'm not lowering it while you're armed"

He smiled at her, "So, mind telling me what you're doing out here" he grinned more widely, "I know, not really the situation for a smile, but the situation is a little tense, I wanted to lighten it up..."

James nodded and lowered the bow, the arrow went back to the quiver and the bow to his back. He co*ked his head at her, "Why so glum? You're awfully angry looking, don't I get a smile for not killing you? Go on, I bet you're much pettier when you smile..."

...and again came that little voice, No, not again, don't try, you'll be hurtif you do, not again...

He extended his hand anyway, "I'm James King, and who might you be?"

James raised an eyebrow, "Still no smile Victoria" he shrugged, "I can't help that" he shook her hand for a second or two longer than necessary, then smiled and gestured behind them, "Come on, let's get back to tha deer before a bear or something gets it, we can divide it up between us, thee's too many for one of us to carry"
