LUCKY EVANS
18 Years of Age
Adoptive Son of Nella Horace Evans
Biological Son of Seville William Mentz and Pavra Marlene Stull Mentz
Biological Brother of the late Orville Yorkington Mentz
Male
Resides in District 1
APPEARANCE
Despite having the same, grassy green eyes as his brother, the two have very different hair colors. Lucky had never had his brown hair dyed, unlike York, who had actually used lemon juice to create a bottle blonde color. Lucky had always particularly liked his hair, and even if he didn't, Nella didn't have enough money to ever think about changing. Lucky has built up muscle from working in the factories as much as he had to. Not having a minute to sit and relax will do wonders for the abdominal region.
Due to the lack of funds that come into the Evans household, Lucky does not have the opportunity to dress as most District 1 teenagers to. The boy compares himself to someone who lives in District 12, a feeling that no child in the posh District 1 should never have to feel. Though the thought crosses his mind as he dons dirty jeans and a plain t-shirt.
Lucky has far more important things to worry about than looks, though at times his insecurities get to him. Like his brother, Lucky battles his bushy eyebrows, the demons that grow over his eyes. Lucky also takes a strong disliking to his lips. The snotty rich kids he despises call him names and pester him about them, though the boy is too shy to do anything about them. His skin is a bit pale, mostly from working too much and not being able to go outside and tan.
PERSONALITY
Lucky has always done anything that is asked of him. Saying "no" is a very difficult action to perform for this boy, and he always tries his absolute best when something is asked of him. Socially, Lucky is more of a loner. He was always fairly shy, not ready to branch out and start a conversation with anybody. When someone began talking to him, however, his true colors began to shine, and he would never ignore the person. If anybody has the desire to befriend Lucky, they would need to be the ones to initiate the conversation.
When Lucky knows that he is right about something, he tends to be stubborn and holds firm to the answer he knows that is 100% true. He absolutely hates it when people try to convince him of something different when he is certain of something. This does not necessarily mean that everything Lucky says is accurate. His school performance is mediocre, as he doesn't have the strive to do well in that field. He puts all of the effort he has into his work performance, as he believes that making a living is far more important than schoolwork.
Lucky is not typically a ladies man. Never having had a girlfriend, the teenager has never learned to truly love in a way that wasn't with Nella. It's not as though he had never wanted a girlfriend; He is a teenager after all, with raging hormones. It's just that he would never have time to spend time with her they he would want. Lucky doesn't even have time to train for the Games, which is also very important to him. If he is ever Reaped, he would need to win. That would be the only option. If he was not there to care for Nella, then there would be no way for her to earn money to support herself. She would die with Lucky.
HISTORY
It was a rainy evening in District One, as a man carried two babies in his arms. With each was their birth certificate, as if to distinguish the twins apart. The baby in his right arm, Orville, flailed restlessly in the man's arms, crying as the rain pelted on his small face. In his left arm, Marville Lucidus Mentz laid calm in the arms of his father, cooing every once in a while. Seville Mentz placed Marville in front of a doorstep, one he thought belonged to a local pimp. He agreed to settle a debt with the man by donating one of his own children to become a male prostitute. Noticing Marville's calmness and strength, he knew that this child would have been most suitable to fulfill the pimp's wishes. Without hesitation, he set the child on the doorstep and pounded on the door, before quickly scurrying away with Orville in his arm.
Although Seville had made a mistake, one that had saved his son's life. For the man had dropped the child off at the wrong house, and Nella Evans, a friendly elderly woman who had never married nor had children, heard the cries of the child from outside of her small house. She picked up the birth certificate laying next to the child, and frowned as she noticed the it could not be read due to the rain. The only thing she could make out was the first three letters in his middle name, "Luc". Nella pondered what this could have been, before the word "Lucky" plopped into her mind. And from that moment onward, Marville was known as Lucky Evans.
Growing up, Lucky didn't have much. Food was supplied by Nella's nieces and nephews who had agreed to take a portion of their salary to give to the woman who was in no condition to work. Handed down toys were all that Lucky had to play with, though he enjoyed that he could have at least those. He began working as soon as he could, wanting nothing other than to help out Nella's family by supporting the two of them. From then on, Lucky's life was a continuous cycle of schooling and work, never truly having time for himself. It wasn't until he saw the bloodied face of York Mentz that Lucky learned he had a brother. Currently, the boy is searching for more information on his deceased twin, and also the whereabouts of his birth parents.
