Telia Lai (District 1)

Telia has a round, head and face. Her full skull pulls into a pointed chin. She has pale, snow white skin, with full slanted, dull green greyish eyes. Her lips are not full, but thin and lightly pink. Her eyebrows are bushy and full, with pimple lightly dotting her face. Along with freckles and blemish scars, her chin has a indented scar that she wonders if it will ever go away. She is considered very weak, as her frame is thin and delicate. She is very small for her age, and her hair is very thin, as Telia likes to cut it herself, making it grow back in patches. Her Mother is constantly angered by her hair dressing skills. Her eyelashes have been bleached blonde, as well as parts of her eyebrows. Her hair has been described as very dirty half the time, greasy and weighed down. When it is clean, it's very dry and damaged. Her hair is the color of sand and dirt mixed. Her mother likes to describe it as 'sunlight and chocolate'.

Telia's choice of fashion sense seems to mock District 1. She isn't into frilly dresses and colourful outfits like most of her neighbours and friends, but dark loose clothing. Shirts and pants that are way to big for her, or anything comfortable. Barefoot seems to be her best way of footwear, and mismatched socks is 'cool' to her. When she does choose to dress nice, dark coloured tank tops and jackets, with black tights is her favourite. Telia's voice is high pitched and airy, almost distant and insane.

If you were to bump into Telia's path, She might seem weak and mental. She acts as though she's scared of everything that goes bump in the night. She doesn't trust anyone at first, and in a way, that's the only way she's lived long enough without her mother there by her side 24/7. She almost needs babysitting, she acts so paranoid. Get to know Telia a little more, and she might show you what she's really hiding, that's she not scared of everything, but she's very timid. Telia has a very deep, passionate obsession with the hunger games. She's always wanted to compete in the games, but refuses to volunteer, in fear of being desperate to die. She believes the hunger games is a Nobel way to die.

Overall, Telia does not like meeting people. She socializes when she has to, and stays quiet and alone the rest of the time. She likes to come off as 'insane'. When Telia gains a friend, she tends to be way to talkative to said friend, even though she still puts off as insane. Most people tend to avoid the 'crazy' girl. Telia is a very confusing girl, even if there is no one around, she'll act insane. See the dark alley to get to her house? If It's night, She'll go sleep in the town square until morning, when it's 'Safe' to walk down the 2 block alley. If the store has a funny looking man running it, she won't go in until someone else is in there with her. If school lets out and her mother isn't there to walk her home (which most of the times, she isn't there), Telia won't go home until someone picks her up.

Because of her social problems and Telia's obsession with the Hunger games, It holds her back from almost everything. In the daylight, she might learn small trades in her backyard, but climbing the fence to other houses is only acceptable when no one... or everyone.. is watching. Her main 'skill' is being almost invisible. . If she wants to be left alone, she'll hide in poison ivy if she has to. Most 'normal' people tend to avoid people like Telia anyways.

Telia was born to her loving mother and father on a Friday, in her own home in District 1. Telia's mother and father both shared the interest in Hairdressing, her father having used to own a shop. He moved from the Capitol to train Telia's mother in hairdressing. Telia was a very quiet baby, only crying when she wanted something. Telia's mother and father tried to raise her to follow in the footsteps of Hair dressing. But when Telia turned 2 and a half, and after 3 years of Marriage, Telia's father went for a business trip to the Capitol, and never returned home. Telia's mother would often work later than normal, leaving Telia at home by herself. This is thought to strike her fear of being alone.
Telia grew up around babysitter and being alone. Her mother threw herself into her work, and almost gave up on life itself. She blames Telia's silence and bad luck for her father's absence. Telia went to the local District school, and when she turned 8 years old- she began to use her silence to help her train for if she was ever graced with the Hunger games.

Telia often would stay indoors at play times, eat alone, talk to herself, or read. She often read about the hunger games. Telia dreams about competing in the hunger games. Knowing she will not have a chance to survived, she has trained her brain to think that the Hunger games was a good way to die. Telia's mother could honestly care less, as she's to upset about her husband.

Telia often likes to run and train for the hunger games, but her own way. She likes climbing the trees in the district, and hiding in bushes, near buildings, making forts and such. Telia believes that her father is most likely a avox, and her going to the capitol to compete in the hunger games, she'll see her father again.
