Take care of yourself

Naya hadn't said a word during the train side. She hadn't said a word in her defense when she was pulled out and lead into the detention center. There was nothing she could say in her defense to be honest. She'd stolen more times than she could count, from more people than she cared to remember... but she'd been caught for the first time in her life. The terror that had run through her body when the peacekeepers took them away was unimaginable. Tears flowing from her eyes, kicking and screaming, needing to be free once more. But it was like she was animal caught in a trap; the more she struggled, the deeper the claws would sink into her, holding her in place tighter. By the time they got her on the train, she'd lost all her energy and just sat quietly for the whole journey, staring vacantly out the window.
Even though she'd been terrified about what would happen to her, that's not why Naya had fought hard enough to give a black eye to one of the Peacekeepers, and bust the lip of the other... The young girl knew that now that she was gone, not knowing when she would get home, her siblings were going to have to take care of themselves. Lee was just a little bit older than she had been when Melana and Copey had died, making Naya the oldest of her siblings... he would be able to take care of them. But Naya was more afraid for her little sisters. Particularly Odine. She was only ten... but she looked older than she actually was. Long brown hair, deep and rich... and beautiful green eyes that Naya remembered vaguely from the man that was Odine's father. She was very pretty, and that's why Naya was so afraid.
Without her there to protect them, how long would it take for Drake to lay his hands on Odine? She wasn't there, so if their mother wasn't there to keep him entertained, would he turn on her little sister? Naya could feel tears filling her eyes, curling up further into herself, cursing at herself for allowing herself to be caught. She'd been so stupid. So stupid and arrogant. But she'd tried to be so careful this time. Naya hadn't wanted Forge to get caught because of her... so she'd tried her best to be smart about things, not do anything too risky. She was analyzing every step she'd took and every move she'd made, trying to see where she had gone wrong, until her door opened and Peacekeepers came to escort her inside.
Naya kept her head down, no longer fighting... just walking quietly with them, biting her lip as she tried to subtly wipe away her tears. She couldn't show weakness; not in here. Their trespass had only been a minor infraction, but there would surely be far tougher criminals in here than her little pick-pocket self. Now she just needed to go back to being invisible... keep her head down until she could go home. Right at that moment, Naya wanted nothing more than to curl up beside Forge... but she doubted she'd be allowed anywhere near him. Of course not... the one person that could make her feel safe wouldn't be allowed to be in any contact with her.
Before she knew what had really happened, she was inside a cell, hearing the door rattle shut behind her. It wasn't as bad as she'd imagined. She slept in a room this size with all of her six siblings. At least now she'd get to have a bed for herself. Naya swallowed down, moving a little, wrapping her arms around herself, before moving to curl up in the corner of the room on her bed. She bit her lip softly, trying to focus on keeping calm... they'd be okay. Forge would be fine. Wolfy would be fine. Lee would take care of the others. All she had to do now was make sure to get out... and never get sent back here. The dark-haired girl could feel the cold seeping into her skin through her clothes, shivering softly... before the door rattled once more. Her dark eyes shot up, only to see who would be her cellmate...
