Age: Sixteen
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 2
Appearance:
Personality:Orchid is considered to be small for her age; standing at five feet, one inch and weighing in at about 110 pounds. Her body is not flabby, but neither is it muscled. Rather, Orchid has what can be considered an average body. She exhibits all of the bodily characteristics of a well-fed sixteen year old who possesses a moderately fast metabolism. Still, she is rather small for her age, and has a hard time finding clothing that fits her proportions correctly. As a result, Orchid can very often be found wearing shirts that are a few sizes too big for her and jeans that seem a bit too roomy.
Orchid has a somewhat jagged scar on her left shoulder blade, a remnant of a wound she received while trying to fit herself into a very tight space; trying to hide from peacekeepers. She also bears a scar on her right lower abdomen, just above her hip bone that she received when her father had to do an emergency surgery as a result of a severe case of appendicitis. Other than that, Orchid has the skin of a baby, creamy white and softer than cotton
Orchid has blonde, wavy hair that falls about half-way down her back. It is sun-bleached with natural highlights and will cascade in soft ringlets if not tamed with a brush and comb. Her mother used to call her 'Goldie Locks' on account of it, and Orchid is especially fond of her yellow tresses.
Perhaps the most striking of Orchid's features are her eyes, which are pale blue and brighter than the noon-day sky. Despite the terrible oppression that can often be seen throughout the twelve districts, Orchid's features are always aglow, and her smiles light up her face until they reach her eyes. Despite all of the challenges that her people face (though not as great as those people in the poorer districts), she appears to be a happy, vibrant individual.
History:In many cases, people don't really know what Orchid's personality is like, as she is quite shy and reserved. She can often be found reading a book by herself in the corner or day dreaming in the corner. She does not talk to anyone that isn't apart of her family unless they address her first, and even then, it is difficult to get a sentence out of her. She rarely makes eye contact when she talks, and it is not uncommon to see a blush spreading across her face when she catches someone even glancing her way. She tends to prefer to be alone, though sometimes she does feel quite lonely. She secretly wants to make friends, but can't seem to overcome her shyness to do so.
However, those who are able to get Orchid to speak to them, can almost immediately see that she is an uncommonly compassionate soul. She does not hesitate to help anyone that comes to her in need, and she is constantly putting herself on the line to help others less fortunate than she is. Further, Orchid is possessed with a fierce feeling of kinship to anyone that will extend her their friendship. It may take quite some time to get passed her walls and into her life, but Orchid is a wonderfully loyal and loving friend once she gets to know someone. In many cases, her need to help others gets her teased as she is considered to be district two's worse candidate for The Hunger Games. Some of the children her age say that a sheep would be a better tribute than she. And Orchid agrees with them wholeheartedly. she considers herself to be (and practices the ideals of) a pacifist and often prays she won't ever be reaped.
Orchid is also very studious. She is the daughter of a doctor and has inherited her father's love for knowledge. She reads books on anatomy and physiology of human being more often than not and always receives high marks in any school oriented task that she undertakes. It isn't that Orchid was born knowing more than the rest, it is simply that she works hard to learn about the things that she is curious about and she is constantly seeking to learn more. The more she learns, the more she digs. This had branded Orchid as a bookworm and a know-it-all.
Codeword: odairOrchid was born to a fairly privileged district two family, Tenka and Sage DeMonay. Her father, Tenka, was a doctor and her mother, Sage, stayed at home and tended the house. It was a joy to both of her parents when they found out Orchid was on the way, as it was previously believed that Sage could not conceive. However, there was a problem with the pregnancy and Orchid's mother was told soon after the birth of her first and only daughter that anymore attempts to have children would likely kill her. It was then that Sage and Tenka decided that they would make due with their one, beautiful and precious child. Of course, there was always the fear (from the moment she was born) that one day Orchid would be selected to be tribute for district two. And while it utterly broke the hearts of her parents that she was all they had, and losing her would mean losing everything, they raised her to be as kindly and as non-violent as they could. They did not want to have a little sadistic monster for their one and only child.
From a young age, it became clear that Orchid was good at finding places to hide. She would often hide herself from the school bullies in places that even the teachers could not find her. She could fit her slim body into spaces that many people would not even think to look in. Her parents were often looking high and low for her, because she was constantly getting scared and running away to hide. When she was ten, she saw a pair of peacekeepers patrolling the streets. Orchid got scared and bolted into the nearest hiding space she could find, and succeeded in scraping her shoulder against a rusty piece of metal that was hanging off the underside of the building she had chosen as her hiding spot. Her father later did all that he could to make sure the wound never got infected, but the wound turned into a small, jagged scar on her left shoulder.
When Orchid turned eleven, her father began to teach her some of the things he knew as a doctor. Some days, he would let her watch him treat patients. Orchid was fascinated by the human body and how it worked, from that moment on, she read all the books she could possibly get her hands on, which was mostly medical notes and books that she found in her father's keeping. Orchid trained with her father nearly every day, until she became quite adept at healing nearly every wound so long as she had the supplies to do so.
Orchid was never trained in any weapon skills. Her parents did not want to train a soldier. However, Orchid knows great amounts about the human anatomy. She can both heal and use pressure points against her foes. Further, she is capable of wielding small knives with great precision. She does not throw them, simply uses them as a last defense mechanism, something she has not even had to think about just yet. And when she prefers not to be seen, Orchid is highly skilled at finding hiding spots, as her body can fit into some very tiny spaces. For the most part, Orchid has led an easy-going and decently privileged life.
While it is possible that Orchid will one day be selected for The Hunger Games, her parents remain ever hopeful that their daughter won't have to face such a peril. And if she does, they have little faith that she will live through the games, as they have not done much in the way of training. Further, any training that was attempted to be instilled in her formally in school failed. Orchid is not a physical person, and found herself performing poorly in nearly every area of combat.

I read the rules until my eyes felt weird, so I hope that the code word is right. I have a really hard time paying attention to the differences in the letters. I am sorry.
