Personality:
Cleo is 5'4 with a naturally slim build that she has kept in shape with training and the proper meals severed to her three times a day in District 2. Blonde hair falls down her shoulders with matching blue eyes. Cleo always finds herself wishing her eyes were not so close together and that the annoying birthmark on her neck would simply disappear. Such imperfections have become obsessions of hers.
Long fingers and perfectly rounded nails take the attention away from a scar running across Cleo's palm. With light blush and lipgloss always adorning her face, Cleo makes sure to appear as perfect as she can as to hopefully make her father proud. Those small blue eyes, however, never truly light up with real happiness, but rather seem to glass over from emotions built up within. Finally, Cleo's naturally pale skin is almost always burnt somewhere in the summer as it is so sensitive.
Cleo is the soft spoken type. After growing up with her loud and judgmental father, Zane Romano, Cleo learned to keep her thoughts to herself. Cleo's kind nature is only shown to her friends and to others she is a smiling face who also can be a fearsome opponent.History:
Cleo's preference of being a listener rather than a talker has made her easily looked over by many and nothing truly special. Only in the training arena does she bring attention to herself. Cleo keeps a happy mask on when in public. The only place Cleo truly lets herself release emotions is when she is in her little clearing.
To keep her father pleased, Cleo trains regularly and has become skilled with a few weapons and in survival techniques. Cleo's favorite weapons are throwing knives. With great aim, Cleo has learned how to hit nearly every target and challenge she is presented. The other weapon Cleo has practiced and learned how to use, although not as well as throwing knives, is sword. Although she cannot fight as well as others in her class with a sword, Cleo has discovered her own techniques and ways to handle the weapon so that if she were thrown in the arena without knives, she would have another option for a weapon.
Cleo attempts to be as friendly as possible. To most, she is simply polite and happy. Around friends, Cleo allows her caring and loyal nature to show. With no siblings, Cleo volunteers at the daycare on weekends to take care of the young ones and have an excuse for being outside the house.
The clear skies and fresh air of Cleo's meadow, however, are by far her favorite things. When she can, Cleo escapes to a small meadow she found at an early age. There she lets her pet hamster, Star, scamper around while Cleo murmurs her problems to the small creature. This is one of the few places Cleo truly feels safe.
Finally, when she can, Cleo loves to paint. She has become quite talented with other art utensils but paints are her favorite. Although Cleo appears as happy as she can and is nice, her true thoughts, resentments, and anger and buried deep within. Such feelings are expressed vividly in Cleo's art work and she must stash them away in fear of anyone seeing what is actually going on in that pretty little head.
Cleo was born to Zane and Persephone Romano when her parents were young. Marrying as soon as they turned eighteen as an act of rebellion against their families, Zane and Persephone were seen as delinquents and shunned by most of the community. When Cleo was only a couple of months old and her parents were nearing their nineteenth birthdays, Persephone was reaped for the Hunger Games. So many frowned upon her choice to marry early and without permission that none volunteered for her. Persephone made it down to the final two before she was finally killed.Codeword: Odair
His wife's death crushed Zane and he turned to alcohol. Cleo found herself growing up more in daycare than at home until she was too old to be dumped there. Afterwards, Cleo realized how broken and unstable her father was and quickly learned to keep her mouth shut. This lesson was learned on her fifth birthday. When Cleo asked her father if she had any presents like the other children had told stories about from their birthdays, he lashed out at her, cutting her hand and giving her several bruises. The scar from the cut still remains on Cleo's hand as an ominous reminder to her to avoid crossing paths with her father.
Cleo now spends most of her time at school, training, or at the day care volunteering so she does not have to worry about her father. Since she is such a reserved person, Cleo has never had a real boyfriend and finds herself shying away from the opposite sex as images of her father flash through her mind.
Although she trains, Cleo has no intentions of volunteering for the Hunger Games. Watching the annual event is horrible for the shy and caring girl and she finds herself rejecting the brutal opinions shared by everyone else in her district. Cleo cannot wait for her nineteenth birthday when she will be free from her father, safe from the danger of the reapings, and able to begin a job working at the daycare.
