Blaine Facultas, District 1

Blaine’s physical features can be somewhat intimidating to his peers. His face has a slight square shape to it, and his cheekbones tend to protrude, which he detests. His mouth is most often seen curled into sneer, although this actually a diehard habit rather than an attempt at vanity. His hair is often complimented due to its natural jet-black hue, its attractive frontal cowlick, and its short, spiky composition overall. His large eyes are a distinct blue-gray hybrid, and they possess a strange ability to go several minutes without blinking once. Build-wise, Blaine is muscular, particularly on his arms, chest, and stomach. Elsewhere, he is relatively average in terms of tone. He measures 5’9” in height, and weighs approximately 170 pounds.

As one would expect from the upper Districts, Blaine favors a lavish, luxurious wardrobe. For casual wear, he is most often seen in exquisite button-down shirts, occasionally with a tie. Polo shirts make an appearance as well, although he usually only wears them when it is too hot to wear his normal attire. In the course of pants, Blaine prefers lighter colors, such as tan and beige. His bottoms are dressy and perhaps even more expensive than most of his shirts. During hotter days, he swaps out his normal pants for cargo shorts. The buttons on each of these components are in vibrant colors, such as gold, silver, emerald green, and sapphire. During training, however, Blaine simply wears an oversized gray or black t-shirt and shorts. As for shoes, Blaine alternates between mess-free red-and-black sneakers and black dress shoes. His clothing preferences parallel his extravagant personality.

As far as personality goes, Blaine can prove to be quite a handful. His most notorious qualities are his brashness and arrogance, which he shamelessly displays. This demeanor is not often shown around fellow Career Districts and the Capitol, however. Around that demographic, Blaine retains his arrogance but shows an affinity for caring. Because he was raised in a strict, biased household, he holds a grudge against non-Career Districts, and supports the Career Districts and the Capitol itself devoutly. While selective with his subjects, he has not forgotten how to care for others.

Although arrogance is often frowned upon, Blaine has a few essential predispositions as a result. He possesses outstanding confidence, and a keen sense of well-being. He can come off as crude, but this quality also bestows him with the power of assertiveness. Verbal arguments almost always bend to his favor. However, he is easily angered when he does not get his way.

Perhaps his biggest perk is merely being blessed with Career status. As with every other prideful Career family, Blaine has trained vigorously for hopes of eventually being Reaped. If the odds are in his favor, District 1 would have a very resilient male Tribute. Blaine’s strong points lie in strength and agility. He is handy at wielding a spear, and he can lift heavy objects with relative ease. In addition, he is well-versed in deceiving the enemy, often luring them into false pretenses and then delivering the final blow. Allies would be predominantly composed of other Career Districts, while every other competitor would be Blaine’s enemy.

Blaine was born into a wealthy family in District 1, composed of his mother, a housewife, and his father, a retired yet famed clockmaker known for the creation of the exquisite jewel-encrusted clocks that were found in the Capitol’s most luxurious abodes. As a result, the family had never seen decadence – rather, the opposite. Money seemed to materialize from under the sleeves of their expensive blouses and suits, and every comfort was catered to accordingly. The only place more luxurious than this splendor was the Capitol itself. Simply put, Blaine had everything a normal boy would dream of having right from the beginning.

Because of the massive influx of money spurred by the overwhelming sales of his father’s clocks, neither Blaine nor his mother ever had to work. Instead, the former devoted his time to school and training, as was customary for Career children. Blaine was a bright student, earning decent grades and making many friends with his sly, self-assured attitude. His teachers often praised him for possessing a natural drive to complete assignments promptly, and often called him “the epitome of hard work”.

All the while, Blaine’s semi-mandatory training for a potential Hunger Games commenced smoothly. As he grew older, his survival skills and other necessities improved, particularly in the course of tricking his enemies and luring them into fake, but seemingly convincing situations. Weaponry also became a forte, although he found his muse primarily in spears, both in throwing them and in close-range combat. His hard-working and crude attitude hardened his dislike and distaste for lesser Districts, which would certainly prove effective in the Games. Though his shortcomings (such as impatience and quickness for anger) may very well become the death of him, Blaine has refined himself into a well-rounded one-man killing machine.
