Kai Waters-District 4 (FINISHED)

Appearance:

Standing at five foot eight, Kai Waters in neither extremely tall or short. He is about average body size, though years out on a boat with his father have toned his muscles well. He may not be the tallest or the bulkiest, but he could still hold his own. In addition to the work he's done on the boat building up his muscles, it has also forced him to work long days in the heat of the sun. This work has given him a golden tan much like his father. This tan seems to cover most of his body with the exception of a jagged pink scar on his chest from an accident on the boat one day.

His eyes are brown with a golden ring around the iris. Kai has short, golden-brown hair, naturally highlighted from his days under the blazing sun. More often than not, his hair is a mess which is caused by the constant breeze flowing through the air in District 4. Around town, he is usually seen wearing a beaten up white shirt and some form of shorts. It's a rare occasion to see him dressed in anything other than worn clothes that he uses for work.

Personality:

The strong, silent type. That's the best way to describe how Kai comes off to most people. He's a hard worker, spending any of his free time out helping his dad when he isn't in school. At school, he mostly keeps to himself which tends to gives him a mysterious edge. Underneath all of the mystery and silence, he is simply shy. Neither of his parents are social butterflies so the fact that he is unsure of how to initiate conversation or relationships does not come as a surprise to himself. In fact, if he is not working or at school you can find him sneaking off to the shore to listen to the waves rolling in from the ocean. It's one of the few things that can make him relax.

Aside from that, he takes mostly everything that he does into high reguards. If you ever needed a good worker, Kai will always give you everything he's got. Because he takes pride in his work, he also tends to get competitive. It's just in his nature to want to be the best at everything he does. However, this in mind, he does have a short temper if he is not good at something and he is not a very good loser.

He doesn't have many friends, but the people that do crack through his hard, exterior shell will find that underneath it all he is loyal and kind. Kai would give his own life if it meant saving his family and friends. At the same time, do not ask him for opinions unless you are prepared to his honest thoughts on the situation. Sugar-coating things is not in his nature.

History:

Kai is an only child born to a fisherman father and a mother who specialized in knitting nets and baskets. His father and mother found that they were able to help one another out when they were younger and eventually their partnership blossomed into a relationship. There was nothing really exciting about either of his parents childhoods aside from the fact that an uncle had competed in the games. However, it was decided that nobody would speak of those games because it was simply too difficult for his mother to think about the loss of her brother.

These days, his father has carried on his career as a fisherman and has trained Kai all about it as well. His mother supplies nets and lines for them to carry on with the fishing and his dad is one of the men who actually owns his own boat. It's not the sturdiest boat around, but it does what they need it to. Their life was about as content as a life in the districts could be. Well, aside from the higher classes. But they were living a decent life all the same. They rarely went without food and the two bedroom home they dwelled in was still standing. That counted for something.

Despite the content life that his family lives, Kai is yearning for something more. Anything more, actually. Sometimes he finds himself lonely and that makes him think he's eager to befriend some citizens around town. However, deep down he has a thirst to prove himself. A thirst for the games. It's a mad thought, sacrificing yourself for a capitol that cares nothing about you...but in the end...if you win...it's worth it all, isn't it?
