Name: Felicity Jones
Age: 19
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 4
Appearance:
Felicity has a long, diamond-shaped face and clear, pale complexion. Her eyes as well as her hair are a warm brown colour. She’s about 6 feet tall and rather skinny, weighing only 130 pounds on a full stomach and fully dressed. As an artist, she has a very steady hand and is well coordinated.
Felicity is usually seen dressed in either very modern, fashionable clothes – which she sows herself as she’s far too poor to afford such luxuries – or in paint-stained white overalls which are often accompanied by a brush or two in the pockets, her hand of between her teeth as well as paint stains on her face and forearms. She keeps her hair up in a messy bun when she’s working on art but otherwise her brown locks cascade down her back in waves.
Personality:
Felicity is an artist. She’s talented, expressive and creative. No one taught her how to paint or sketch, she practiced on her own. She spends hours on one piece of work mixing colours, shading different elements etc. Art is something she gets lost in, something that makes her feel free.
She’s highly active and ambitious. She believes hard work pays off so when something needs to be done, she jumps to it. She doesn’t like sitting around and relaxing: it makes her feel uneasy like she’s wasting valuable time.
Felicity’s friendly and very easy to get on with. She laughs a lot and seems to radiate energy when she’s in her creative mode. She enjoys lifting people’s spirits and is quite good at it. She’s also loves children and is quite youthful herself.
History:
Felicity was born into a relatively well off middle class family. Her parents owned a small business in town which she would be expected to take over one day. Felicity went to school with the rest of the kids in Four and developed a great love for art at a young age. She was allowed to paint as a hobby but neither she nor her parents thought it would ever be of much use to her.
Felicity had to watch the Hunger Games every year like the rest of Panem and she didn’t like it one bit. She was able to tough it out but had no respect for any of the Career tributes her district so prized. Whenever Four won, she’d feel ashamed rather than proud. Luckily for her, she reached the end of her reaping days unharmed.
Then about a year later something terrible happened. Her father was charged with theft and executed in the town square. At the time, Felicity didn’t realize how big an impact the event had had on her. She was convinced that the charges had been false and it had all been a plot by the Capitol to warn thieves. It also took a heavy toll on Felicity’s mother who fell ill and could no longer work. Therefore Felicity had to take over the business singlehandedly as well as care for her sick mother. As a result, the family funds plummeted.
One day Felicity went to trade in the square and came upon a very unpleasant scene. A particularly vindictive old shopkeeper was holding a small, fair-haired girl by the wrist and raging at her for trying to steal an oyster. The child was also beside herself, claiming she’d done nothing of the sort and trying desperately to pull free and run away. Without giving it further thought, Felicity had marched over to the shopkeeper, prised his grubby fingers off the girl’s thin wrist and tossed him a couple of coins for the oyster just to shut him up. She’d then taken the girl, Mona, back to her shop where she made some tea and calmed her down. After that Felicity began to look out for Mona, greeting her whenever she saw her in town, checking on her and seeing how she was.
One time Mona told Felicity of a resistance movement which she was a part of. At first Felicity was quite shocked; Mona was, after all, a child and a group of youngsters planning a rebellion did not bode well. When she was led to headquarters however, she discovered that a number of people, of all ages from 11-79, were party to it. It didn’t take long before Felicity was a member as well and what was more, she’d finally found something to do with her talent. The group lacked an artist to draw out maps and plans, make schemes and write letters. It was everything she’d wanted – a chance to use her skills, a way to rebel against the Capitol. It was…perfect.
