Elene Winter (District 6)

Elene is a fairly pretty girl. She has long, thick black hair. It looks like smooth waves rolling around her face that fall just above dark brown almond shaped eyes. Her eyes, sparkling with softness and innocence, make her look deceptively young and naive. Her pale skin attractively contrasts her eyes and hair. Her small face is framed by her hair, which makes it seem even smaller than it is.
Small and slender, it is obvious than Elene is much smaller than other kids her age. At barely four foot two and not even 60 pounds, she is underweight and too short for her age. Since she is so light, she can climb to the top of trees without being worried a branch will break. Small, light feet assist her fast, quiet running.

Elene has many different facades and personalities. She has a kind, innocent personality she would use if it weren't for her environment. She can also be cold and calculating, only doing something if it won't harm her. She does this with people who don't like her. She also has an in between personality in which she is intelligent. The facade she uses depends on the situation.
When she's with people who are her friends, though this is rare, she shows her kind, innocent side that is rare, but attractive and soft. The flaws of this facade is that she is too trusting. She could easily be killed or badly hurt. However, she also seems so sweet that people won't want to hurt her and ruin her trust in them. With this facade, boys can be attracted to her, but they aren't because of jealousy and scorn.
When she is with bullies or someone who hates her, she is cold and calculating. She does things depending only on how they will benefit her, not how they will benefit others. She won't go out of her way to help someone. The flaws of this facade is that she won't make alliances or friends easily, believing that everyone wants to hurt her somehow. She will only trust herself to take care of herself.
With her intelligent facade, the in between facade, she is quietly intelligent. She studies hard and has a pretty good memory. Her flaw with this facade is that she shows people her strengths instead of hiding them-her intelligence, speed, and her ability to climb trees.
Inside, she is an insecure girl. Because half the kids at school bully her, she is withdrawn and shows only her facades. She would give up all of her intelligence if they would actually like her, but she isn't that lucky. She is extremely intelligent and logical.

At school, Elene is one of the most intelligent kids. Although District 6 represents scientific intelligence, she excels even among the brainiacs. Those who are average are jealous of her because she is a model student and their parents often encourage them to be like her. They resort to simple teasing during school, which she can block out, but after school, they will resort to physical violence. Because of this, Elene is able to quickly evaluate a situation to find her classmates, who dislike her, escape routes, and the best plans. She started by running from them, but it was difficult to escape from them by running, since they would block her house and she would get tired eventually. The Peacekeepers always thought it was a game, since they threatened Elene and she never had the courage to speak up. She eventually learned to climb trees to escape.
Those who are a bit of rebels, though few, and don't want to be as smart as Elene or care for their parents' opinions simply regard her with quiet contempt, wondering what she finds in a life of studying and getting the best scores. She might be able to get a good job, be fairly rich, and have a life with comforts, but she wouldn't have a social life. They settle on teasing her and trying to make her see the truth, that she doesn't need to get good grades to be happy.
Elene tries to get good grades to be acknowledged by her parents. Her mother specializes in creating cures, and her father is, like her, a geek. He is good at all kinds of science, but mostly works with her mother on curing new diseases. She has a reserved home life. Since her mother is known for curing many diseases with her father, they lead a life with adequate money, but her parents are often reserved and concentrate more on curing diseases. It's not a steady job. Once they didn't cure anything for 2 years and barely had enough money to eat the minimum amount of food to survive, but once they cured 3 diseases in a month and had more money than they knew what to do with for a while. Elene often helps out her parents and knows a lot, like how to identify what kind of disease it is from a blood sample and a complicated computer to which herbs will help a medicine to make it stronger. She also knows how to add a plant/ herb/ mixture to a medicine to make it more effective.
