Althea Ivory District 1 -FIN-

Althea has pointed almost elfish features. A sharp chin, small but slim nose, and calculating silver-blue eyes that always seem to be somewhere else, all occupy a thin face accompanied by a light spray of freckles across her nose, giving her a slight air of innocence. Her skin is pale and appears almost white in bright light or against dark backgrounds. The color of her skin provides a startling contrast to her lips which are a sort of strange reddish pink color. The color is not natural and only exists because her lips are constantly drying out which led to a habit of lip biting starting in her younger years. She doesn't smile much either, and when she does, the smile rarely ever reaches her eyes making her seem a bit fake to some people.

Althea's hair is ash blonde and looks a bit darker when she skips washing it. She likes to keep it at a shorter length, just below her shoulders for a variety of reasons but primarily to keep it manageable. Her hair is also very thin compared to most but it falls in waves and curls giving the illusion of more volume than what is really there. Althea usually keeps her hair down because she can't ever seem to manage to keep it tied up without it slipping out of the tie and she never styles it because she simply feels like it would be a waste of time.

Althea is also very slim and tall for her age about 5'10" and she weighs somewhere around 110-120 lbs. Her posture is usually very good especially when she is trying to get something she wants or during the rare occasion when she is actually interested in her surroundings. However, when she's alone or simply bored she slouches a bit. Her hands are soft, her nails are always cut short, and she is one of those people who feel a few degrees colder to the touch. She keeps her left hand in her pocket or simply to her side at all times, never moving it more than a few inches. The reason for this is an undetectable injury in her shoulder so she attempts to preserve it from further injury.

Intelligent is one word to describe Althea. She notices things that others don't, possesses a vast memory, and the majority of things come quite easy to her. However, she is arrogant and a bit of a show off, (after all, "genius needs an audience.") She doesn't necessarily view others as inferior but she definitely holds herself to a higher standard than those around her. For her, good isn't good enough but she's lazy and when discouraged gives up easily. She never seems to care enough to really work hard for something.

Althea's greatest strength is her charismatic and manipulative abilities. She knows how to get what she wants and will say anything to get it. Her motto in life would be a mixture of: "I do what I want", "Nobody can make me do anything", and "Anything is possible." Because of this she is untrusting and not very trustworthy herself. But, she does have some sense of loyalty to those who are close to her such as her family and those she believes can benefit her in the long run.

Althea's biggest enemy is boredom and she will do a lot to defeat it. She considers her life boring and uneventful so she is known for stirring the pot from time to time to get a reaction. She is an introvert who enjoys being around people to an extent. The kind of person that leaves the party the second things begin to slow down. She doesn't care what people think of her or her actions but judges herself immensely. Not because she's self-conscious but because she wants to be better.

Althea is an only child and has always been a bit of a disappointment to both her parents in different ways. Her mother has always been very enthusiastic about the games and had hoped that Althea would be one of the lucky few to compete and become a victor. She soon gave up on her dream when Althea showed little to no interest in combat and fighting. To her father Althea was everything he could have asked for in a daughter smart, talented, and held an interest in archery. Althea's father was very good at the sport and he taught her as much as he could fantasizing about Althea’s success, but an injury to her shoulder put a stop to her progress and her interest.

Today Althea's relationship with her parents is respectable. She tolerates her mother’s constant obsession with the games and respects her wish of a victor for a daughter, but never shows any sign of attempting to fulfill it. She goes shooting at a range with her father and is still very accurate and is gifted with an extremely fast draw speed, but she is only able to draw the bow back far enough to shoot about 30 meters and still hit her target. Anything further than that could go anywhere and strains her shoulder to the point of a sharp pain.

Throughout her life Althea never gave much of a thought to the games for a few reasons. One would be her mother’s obsession with it (like most of the careers in District 1), and due to her stubbornness she refused to do as was asked of her. Another may be her laziness or simply not caring enough to put in the time and effort like the others. Unlike academics, things such as combat or anything physical for that matter never came easy to her. Because of this she gave up before she even began, only sticking with archery because she had nothing else to do and she did enjoy showing off.
