APPEARANCE
The girl with legs for days. Zeta isn't a scrawny girl and calling her overweight would be an insult. Brown hair, silky smooth isn't just her hair, it's her entire complexion. She is flawless in every aspect. Sleek elegance & subtle sensualism erupt from this 14 year old. If she finds the right man in her own mind she would never have to work a day in her life, and that is based purely on her looks.
Zeta's eyes are two very deep pools of green with full bodied eye lashes any woman would die for to match. A petite nose that lifts up at the last moment to give her that pouty look. Zeta's lips aren't as popular as her hips around District 2, if she struts down the halls of District 2's public school everyone else seems to magically never be in her path because nobody would dare to interrupt such beauty. The last founding facial feature of Zeta's is also her least attractive. Zeta is deaf. At first her parents just thought she was a quiet child but when she never began to speak they finally knew, their angel, their perfect baby had a flaw that no amount of money could ever fix, excluding the capitol's finest doctors. While the Martin family has money even both of her parents salaries couldn't make up the cost to pay for her surgery so she was deemed - Handicapped.
She is the foundation of fashion among the other teens of District 2. Whatever she's got on is in and if you don't have it on, you're out. Simple as that. Her classmates didn't recognize her deafness until about the 2nd grade. Always assuming that she had the mindset she was the best never needing to answer the teacher's useless questions. She was the coolest kid in school and didn't even know it.
PERSONALITY
She can be moody at times but what teen isn't? With the pressure of boys liking her off her back all she has left to deal with is: her overprotective parents, her grades & last to mention yet again, her disability. She can't look at it like that though she has accepted the fact that she will never be able to hear unless she wins the hunger games. So she was set up for a life of training, her choice, not her parents. She faced impossible difficulties, her balance and aim were extremely terrible in the beginning, without sound you'd be amazed how much your depth perception changes.
Zeta is a ditz. How could she not be? With the exception of wanting to be able to hear she has gotten everything she has ever wanted in her life from a wealthy father and a mother with undying care. Being able to influence men is a power women have had since the dawn of time, why should the deaf girl be an exception? She shouldn't be and with a body like that she hasn't been. Considered very mature for her age getting the smarter boys to do her work for her isn't a difficult task for her to accomplish. She only pays attention to the subjects she feels necessary to dominate her hunger games.
She is an envious girl whenever threatened. Although it rarely occurs if someone impresses someone more than Zeta did when they first met that person is immediately deemed uncool and is destined to remain an outcast for the remainder of their high school lives.
Zeta was asked out on a date once, her lover to be even took the time to learn how to sign so he could communicate with her properly. When the moment came after he was finished with his caring presentation Zeta respectfully declined and kissed the boy. She told him as best she could from all her years of reading lips that, "I can't become connected with anyone; I'm just too much of a liability." Zeta actually cared for this boy but with her insistence she wouldn't let someone who loved her live a life of loneliness if she happened to die in the hunger games.
HISTORY
Mr. Michael Martin, Zeta's father, got rich while his company was digging new foundations for peacekeeper housing. He struck oil and nobody in the Martin family, close or distant relatives has had to take tessera, or a job for that matter since. The entire Martin family feels in debt to Zeta's father, she feels as though they should, her dad worked hard as was extremely generous, they should worship him. Zeta resents the rest of her family for the simple reason, without them her family would have had enough money to get her the surgery she needed in order to be able to hear again. She spites them for not being able to proud enough to make money on their own terms.
Zeta lives a privileged life. A life that most other D2 kids could only dream of. It's not her life though, not without sound. She has been on autopilot but she can't take it anymore. Wanting something so much that you don't even know you'll like is a very brave move. Willing to risk your life for an ability many people live long prosperous lives without is daring. If there is one thing Zeta Martin is not, it is a coward.
Zeta's time is running out. She has had enough of not being able to hear. The moment she hears that last cannon in her mind, will be the moment she will be able to hear in real life. A girl who strives for perfection will stop at nothing until she achieves it, and in her mind that means winning the hunger games, gaining eternal glory and regaining something that she believes has always belonged to her. The ability to hear.
