Gender: Female
District/Area: District 2
Appearance:
December (who prefers to be called Em) has long brunette hair, that normally falls halfway between her shoulders and her waist with unkempt waves. She has tried many times to straighten her hair out, but it always goes right back to it's ridiculous waves. She has a rather thin face and slightly pointy chin. Her eyes are a little big and blue causing her to always have a slightly surprised expression on her face. Her lips are thin, but not overly so. She has a small nose that turns up slightly at the end. Em has a spattering of small freckles on her nose and under her eyes which are almost unnoticeable unless you are up close.Personality:
Em is not overly tall for her age. She is 5 feet and 3 inches tall, but when she likes to tell people that she is 5 feet and 5 inches tall, although that's only when she wears heels. She weighs 120 pounds, which is about normal for her height. Em is not very muscular, she hates sports and excersizing. Her mother had always wanted her to be a career, but soon realized that just wouldn't work.
Em is a quiet girl. Her parents often mistake it for shy, as do many other people. Em knows it's not true. She's not shy and if it came down to it she could talk in front of large crowds. She prefers not to though, because she likes to think before she speaks and is often afraid of saying the wrong thing. She likes to have a few close friends to talk to, which makes it hard for her to make new friends. Em wants to know that you are going to stick around for a while before becoming close to you because she is afraid of losing you.History:
Although a few guys have showed interest in her throughout the years in school, Em is afraid to commit. Em watched her mother cry over her father ever since she was little. Her father was a married man who had been having an affair with her mother and wanted nothing to do with Em or her mother after she was born. Em realized then that love would only tear you apart and couldn't possibly last forever.
Intelligent is a word many would use to describe Em. Even though she is quiet and afraid to commit because she knows she will lose anyone she loves, she has always worked hard and studied hard. It was one thing she knew how to do good. Men aren't going to stay around, friends will probably come and go, but books will always be there for her and so would her brain. At least she would be able to make informed decisions in life and not feel like her life depended on a man.
It wasn't until Em was eight that she learned why she didn't have a father. Her mother went a little overboard with the wine one night and began spilling her guts out to the only person around... Em. Not sure what to do with her mother she just sat and listened as her mother told her that men would only want you for one thing and that she should never trust them. She told her how her father had never loved her or wanted her. Em had seen no other evidence of men being anything but pigs, so she agreed with her mother and still does to this day. Even if a man looked perfect on the outside, they all have their own dirty little secrets.Codeword: odair
After that her mother mostly kept it together for Em's sake. Some nights she still heard her mother cry over that stupid man, but it wasn't as bad as before. Her mother was all she really had and she wanted her to be happy, but it didn't seem as if she could ever be completely happy because of what one dumb man did to her. Em swore then and there that she would never let a man do to her what had been done to her mother.
Two years ago, when Em was fifteen, she had been pulled out of class by the principal only to learn that her mother had had a heart attack and died. Her mother had been young, how had this happened? She had asked. They only told her that it was an anomaly and nobody knew for sure. Em felt empty after that day. She was sent to live with her mother's brother whom she had only met a couple of times before and didn't particularly like. Uncle Ed would be the person she would look up to now, and she hated the thought.
These days Uncle Ed and she had an unspoken agreement to pretty much ignore each other as long as Em followed the rules and was good. Em didn't have a problem. She liked her privacy, but she also liked her freedom and didn't need Uncle Ed breathing down her neck. She knew he really just wanted her out of the house most of the time so he could entertain his many lady friends. It was a peaceful agreement for the both of them.
