Age: 16
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 1
Appearance:
When it comes to appearance, Joel has a rather strange physique to boot. He has eyes as grey as the cloudy sky, always bearing a rather severe look that tend to frighten his friends and comrades. However, depite his angry-looking expression, he still has a sense of innocence that comes from his childhood. His hair is a shadowy black, and his face still looks like one of a teenager, making him quite the charming fellow. He is considered as being rather skinny, which increases his running speed greatly. Rather light in appearance, he always wear very distinguished clothes, being from a high placed family in District 1.Personality:
He has developped a good running speed while training diligently under his father's care, and therefore has a way to hide with ease and with much stealth. He has a very good health, therefore ideal to sustain many injuries and ailments that he could encounter. He is not that small, but still has vigorous strength, allowing him to climb on trees in an easier way and to mostly remain undetected when in heights. He also has a very good eye, allowing his senses to be enhanced and his shots always to find their marks. However, he is not really that physically strong, and can be easily lifted considering his very meager weight.
Compared to the other members of District 1, who can sometimes be arrogant and unwise through their actions, Joel is rather helpful, altruistic and kind. He believes that a person shouldn't waste his time on hating people that are not worth all this loathing, and instead direct his thoughts to happier times and moods. He thinks everyone is equal, and that the District system of Panem is mostly unfair and lacks the true sense of justice that a government should have. Not being outright rebellious, he believes that the Hunger Games can be a platform for his lofty ideals, and he will stop at literally nothing to prove it to the world.History:
He is the type of people who doesn't like training in a confined space. He would rather like to train on an open field, with fake weapons, to properly master the art of stealth, hiding and ambushing. That's why he always asks his friends and partners to practice in an area that would be considered as "unconventional" by any Career Tributes for the Games.
Being mostly altruistic and kind, he always wishes to make bonds with his partners, and swears never to betray them until the very end. If he has to betray, it is for reasons he deems are good rather than for his selfish ideals. He believes that his loyalty to his companions can bring up good alliances during the Hunger Games, therefore he thinks he could be able to create a team with other Tributes to achieve victory. However, the trust he puts in his comrades, if only one-sided, can prove to be his undoing, as he can never truly determine if one would use his friendship for good or ill.
Born during the time of the 47th Hunger Games, Joel was always protected by his mother, Nora Daymans, and his very kind father, Lionel Daymans. They were loving and passionate, and even if they lived in the distinguished luxury of District 1, they didn't let it go to their head. They gave much of their time to make him just as kindhearted as they were, even if that meant that their family would receive looks of disdain and hatred from the other District 1 inhabitants. They didn't have a care in the world, as their son would actually grow to become a well-intentioned young man in the near future. They sent him to school as soon as they could.Codeword: Odair
However, it didn't take much time to Joel to find that he was actually being brainwashed by the Capitol to believe in their version of the story. Despite this, he didn't show any signs of impending rebellion rather than a certain indifference to that fact. Instead of focusing on the bad things about the Hunger Games, he would rather try to propagate an idea of altruism and kindness to his own District before showing the Capitol that hate should not have a place in Panem, even if it was used as a kind of retribution for the War that divided the Districts and brought on the Hunger Games. Following the ideals of his father, he began training dilligently to obtain as much results as he could obtain.
But that wasn't enough. In time, he realized that District 1 Training Halls were too closed and confined, and decided to bring the training somewhere else, focusing on ground practice instead of fighting. He asked the Peacemakers to grant him the permission to practice on fields instead of only in simple Training Halls, promising to bring fake weapons and to stay away as much as he could from the main cities. Then, he started to train himself in the art of stealth on different terrains, trying to understand the many possibilities he had. He wanted to use all the chances he had if he had to win the Hunger Games one day.
Today, the 63th Hunger Games had officially begun... He would have to wait next year, but one day he would prove himself to the world.
