Personality:
Ondine is an average height of five feet, seven inches tall, and while she is thin, she is toned and strong from lifting heavy nets filled with shrimp daily on board her father's boat and doing other shipboard duties. Her skin is light, but slightly tanned from being out in the sun for hours, however her skin usually will be reddened due to sunburn, which happens more easily to her than tanning does. Her eyes are deep set and a warm, russet brown tone, which, given her facial expression, can either appear very penetrating or thoughtful. She has long eyelashes, inherited from her mother.
Due to the water and the humidity in the air, her dark blonde hair is frizzy and very curly. The sunlight brings out some blonde highlights that give her hair more texture and contrast. She has a heart shaped face, and a big smile, so she appears friendly and trustworthy- at first glance, however to people she dislikes, if looks could kill, her glare would be murderous. She isn't known to smile unless she needs to, so frown lines are evident on her face. Her lips aren't overly plump, and they're slightly dry and cracked from the salt water and the breeze.
Ondine is far from cheerful or friendly. To her peers, she seems quiet and wears a relaxed, even-tempered frown as she keeps to herself and does her work as instructed. After school, she disappears as soon as everybody is dismissed, and heads home to hop onto the Calypso to help her father until sundown. She understands her duties and knows the importance. There's no way she would ever skip working and abandon her father to do it all by himself for a day. Her responsibilities are important to her, and she prides herself in being diligent and focused.History:
However quiet she may be, she isn't shy. She just prefers to keep her life and thoughts private. In her opinion, to open yourself up to others makes you weak. She is judgmental of others, but keeps those opinions to herself, studying others and knowing things about their character they might not even know themselves.
She can be hot tempered, impulsive, and arrogant, which are her downfalls, you could say. She tries to contain it. She tries to not think less of others and more highly of herself than them, and she tries to stay calm and not act without thinking, but that doesn't come easily to her. Her arrogance is only because she feels she is smarter, more practical, and has more common sense than others. She believes she knows better than others about everything, and that she is always right. She certainly isn't always right, but she is most of the time. Be warned, she seems quiet and calm, but when pushed to her breaking point, she'll react fiercely. Ondine will stand up for herself, because her pride is something she values greatly as well.
Ondine was born on July 23rd, seventeen years ago to Acair and Leah Devanney in District 4. Her family had always lived there for as long as Panem existed. Her parents had a small boat named the Calypso, which they would go out catching shrimp in every day to earn a living. When Ondine was eleven, her mother fell ill and died within two months. Ondine took over her mother's duties on the Calypso, since before she had just helped out. Now the survival of herself and her father depended on her abilities to step into her mother's shoes.Codeword: Odair
She was their only child, and therefore the only one who could help her father. Prior to her mother's death, she was a diligent worker, but she took her responsibilities even more seriously from then on. Her daily work included repairing broken nets, hauling in the catch, scrubbing the deck, and keeping track of the amount of shrimp they caught. Then, once she and her father returned home, she would cook up whatever shrimp they were able to keep to feed themselves, or occasionally fish from local fishermen.
Ondine attended school like the other children in the district, but was never too social. She had acquaintances here and there, but nobody she really would call a friend. Working was more important to her, so she could take care of herself and her father, and to make him proud. When she had free time, she would usually spend it swimming. She is a fast swimmer, and would go as far as she was allowed out, since even the amount of ocean in District 4 was restricted to keep them inside.
