Alana Perry, ~THE UNKNOWN~ District 4

: Feirce. Like in a “get outta my way” sort of way. Like one of those snobby brats you see on TV, well I can be that way if I want. I’ve got wavy blonde hair that varies in different blonde shades. My eyes are a mix between blue and brown, yep, I’ve bet you’ve never heard that before huh? Well, I’m new; I don’t look like any other person you will ever see. I call myself a new breed of woman, and I’m here to make my mark. I have a rounded face that’s on the wide-ish side, or more so than the longish side. My eyes look a little different; one is like lower than the other I guess. I don’t know, they just are positioned differently on my face. My lips are thin and not so plush, I’ve been told they weren’t made for kissing. Thanks Mom. My nose, in my opinion is too long. That’s a flaw even I admit to.

I have a nice figure. I’m skinny and don’t look too shabby in a bikini. My belly button is pierced, along with my ears. I am about 5’7 to 5’7 ½ inches tall, so I’m taller than most girls my age. I have a nice tan from working on the docks and swimming. I am me, and there’s nothing you can do to change that.

I have always wanted to stick out like a sore thumb, I want people to notice me, and I want to be inseparably different. I am not shy, with my words or body. By that, I mean I’m not that type of girl who wears loose clothes because she is uncomfortable. I just don’t let anyone get to me, if I don’t like what they are saying, then it comes in one ear and right back out the other. I say I like the Sound of Sunshine, whatever that means, you figure it out. I am a very independent person. I’m strong minded and stubborn if it comes to it. Guys to me are just hairy girls, except you’re not gay if you kiss one. I’m not afraid to be gay though, but I am not, I’m perfectly straight. Why wait for the storm to pass when you can dance in the rain?

I’m not vulnerable and I don’t scare easily. I was born to be me, so that’s what I’ll be. I like my music loud. I smile a lot. I try to stay happy and easy going. I’m up to about anything I set my mind to. My personality and attitude change to the situation at hand. Like sometimes, I can be pretty bitchy, but other times I can be nice. I haven’t cried since I moved out of my parents’ house, though now, I’m pretty cold to them. Or bitchy. I love to laugh, I love to smile.

I love to be me. I am proud of who I am and what I’ve become, and what I will become. I’m not into the whole career thing. I guess I do use some weapons sometimes to catch fish and work around the docks. I have to get work done, but I have to train, so I just use every weapon I can think of to catch fish, like I’ll use a bow and arrow or a trident. Sometimes I just use my bare hands, it’s an art really.

My childhood was full of criticism, which I don’t take lightly. My mom was always trying to make me prettier and my dad was trying to make me stronger. The moment I got a chance to move out on my own I did it. I live in a boat shack and few blocks down from the docks and the town square. I have plenty of privacy there, and my parents aren’t there all the time. I’ve been living there since I was fourteen. I’m nineteen and I’ve never had sex before. I started work on the docks on my dad’s boat when I was twelve and was hired by a family friend named Bill when I was fourteen and left home. I catch fish, make nets, keep the boat clean, etc. I love my work. My life ain’t too shabby either. I mean, I’ve got it made where I’m at. My long time best friend Jake lives with me, I have a great and fun job, and I have plenty of money and food. I have lots of free time with my job because Bill hired me to run his boat and fish for 8 hours a day, and that’s usually from 4 a.m until noon. I usually sleep for an hour after that and then go to town and do whatever, mingle, meet boys. I live in my bikini; I usually work the boat and do everything in a bikini top and jean shorts. I’ve kinda got it made.

When I was thirteen, my older sister, Kara died. She was the most influential person in my life. I mean considering both my parents were freaks that would make sense. At a time, my family was poor, and we had little food. Really it was when I was very young. My father was ill and he couldn’t work, my mother didn’t know how to work, though I think she tried and Kara was only 7. She loved me; she always said she loved me more than anyone. She learned how to fish, and when my father became able, he helped her. Yet, even with both of them running a boat it wasn’t enough. I didn’t know, but Kara did. She had aged in those last few years we were short on everything. She started giving me her share of food and water. She gave me everything I needed. She spoiled me, living on very little food. Eventually she began to wind down. She wasn’t getting her nutrients she needed to work as hard as she did. She wouldn’t let me work for her. She wouldn’t let me do anything for her. Eventually, she became very ill, and soon after she died. She died for me. Jake was the only person who knew that. And we were younger then. He had been through the same though. That helped me, but I still wish he would get what I was saying better.

My mother and father still come and see me more than 3 times a week after I moved out. I guess they worry about me being so “young”, although I’ve already grown way past my age. Age is but a number in my opinion. I met my best friend Jake at school, when I still went. I stopped attending when I moved out. That year was full of changes. When we were sixteen he moved in with me. He said he needed to protect me because boys were talking about me at school, saying I was sexy or whatever. He is like my body guard/dad figure. Oh how I love him, in a best friend type of way, or maybe more. We met in a history class when we were both making fun of the teacher and got sent out of the class for it. LOL I remember those days. When we annoyed every teacher in the school. He still goes to school, and he will until he graduates. I only show up occasionally so that the Peacekeepers don’t show up at my door. The principle knows how freakish my parents are and understands me moving out, so she marks me present every day, I only come to check on that agreement every once and a while. Again, my life ain’t too shabby. It’s my life, and it’s up to me.

After Kara died, Jake and I became very close, he is like my brother and I love him. He is my rock and keeps me out of a lot of trouble by getting into a lot of trouble. I help him out of sticky situations, therefore, I have to be the responsible one, when it comes to that.. He is now the most important person in my life, and I could not live without him. I sometimes find myself comparing guys I date or flirt with to Jake. He is pretty perfect, but we’ve known each other so long, and been through so much, I don’t want to change that. So we live in our little shack together and stay best friends.
