Riley Dawson, District 4

Riley is tall with sparkling green eyes and a lean, muscular build. She is 5’7” and 120 pounds. She has a dark tan and a rock hard stomach with biceps to match.

In the sun, her hair looks beach blonde, but in the shade it looks darker. She wears her long dark hair either down or in braids, sometimes a ponytail. When the weather is stormy, Riley wears her hair in a bun so it looks less frizzy.

She runs and swims everyday so her legs stay in perfect shape. She is taller than her mother, and her feet are small for her age. Her full lips are a rosy pink hue, and her mother is constantly saying how jealous she is of Riley's perfect high cheek bones.

Riley is the only child in her family. She can be very temperamental and tends to be a hot head when things don’t go her way. She is also very loyal to her family and friends and has never been much of rule breaker, though she does have a rebellious spirit. She is very athletic, loves to swim, and takes pride in her speed in the water. She has a couple of close girlfriends that she considers to be her sisters, and she is starting to notice boys, though she’s not entirely sure if they notice her just yet.

Besides swimming, Riley has a passion for clothing, mainly swimwear. She enjoys sewing in her free time and secretly dreams of being a designer for the capitol. She doesn’t know exactly where her place will be in her district after she is too old for the reapings, but she hopes to choose a career path soon.

Her family is not poor, but they are not rich either. Money is not something she necessarily worries about, but she is very aware that any day the generosity of the capitol could be revoked. She also puts on a brave face during the reaping each year, but fears being chosen, for her greatest strength is her speed but she has a compassionate heart and is certain she would die before being able to kill another.

Riley’s parents first met in primary school where they learned to bait hooks together in the same class. All their lives they were a few houses down from each other, so they were good friends. At age 17 her mother’s sister’s name was drawn for the reaping and her father comforted her mother when her sister died in the games. From that point they each knew they wanted to be together. They had a small ceremony and were assigned a house close to the shoreline where her father worked so he could go out with the fishermen each morning. Her mother worked as a midwife for the districts pregnant women and helped deliver babies.
When Riley was born, her parents vowed she would be their only child and hoped her name would never be drawn in a reaping. Riley was raised on the beach and in the water. Her mom always said she was a fish reincarnated because of how fast she could swim. Her parents couldn’t afford to put her in career tribute training, but she learned a thing or two from her father about throwing tridents and spears to gather fish and sharks and tying good sturdy knots to keep them caught in the nets.
Riley and her parents have close relationships with each other and they are very proud of her accomplishments. They dread the day that boys start taking a liking to her because she is beautiful and smart. Their hope is that she meets a boy from a family with a wealthy business so that she may have an easier life with fewer struggles.
