Natayla's build reminds you of a dancer. She wears her dark brown hair down with a simple tiara braid across her head, and light blue highlights grace the tips of her hair. Her light blue eyes shine like the ocean on a peaceful summer's day, but her best feature is her warm smile worn across her face. Despite her dancer's build, she has wide feet which makes her a bit clumsy at times, not to mention she carries a few extra pounds in her thighs and stomach. She also has fine fingers, which makes her a great asset in untangling fishing nets and the like.

Natayla, no matter what, will always wear something comfortable and not just cute. Often her outfit will consist of khaki capris and a loose white blouse with black boots. But that is only on normal days. On special occasions, Natayla will wear a beautiful blue dress with a gold and green infused pattern and gold sandals. One thing about Natayla never changes, though. No matter what she is wearing or what situations might occur, Natayla will always be wearing a silver locket in the shape of a heart, her only reminder of her deceased mother.

Ever since her mother died giving childbirth a few months ago, Natayla had been the matriarch of her household. Taking care of her siblings and her father, Natayla developed a major sense of responsibility and grace under pressure. Having to solve many small problems that arise, Natayla has also developed a sense of quick-wit and cleverness that could surpass even President Snow, or so her father has claimed.

Outside of her home, Natayla is a fun and happy girl around her friends. Always being the glue that kept her friends from ripping each other apart at times, Natayla is a favorite amongst her classmates and teachers. Natayla is not only witty but smart, because she knows that the knowledge given to her through education could be an important asset to her should she ever need it in, say, the Hunger Games. Also open to new ideas, Natayla is always ready for an argument, and is a graceful loser should she ever lose. This is Natayla's good side.

Natayla's bad side is never one to be trifled with. Although she would never admit it, deep down she hated her mother for dying in childbirth, and taking that child with her. She also hates her father for not manning up and taking control of their family like he should, and she hates how she dotes upon her siblings, making them spoiled brats. She hates her teachers and her school for being so dim-witted sometimes, and she even hates her friends who are also spoiled brats while she has to do all of the work. If she let herself, Natayla could easily surpass as a mass murderer, heck-bent on revenge.

Natayla Melantha Hawker, aged 17 years old, is the first born child and only daughter to Abraham and Manishie Hawker. Born in District Four, Natayla quickly learned how to swim at the age of five, and her mother started teaching her how to dance when she was seven. When Natayla was ten, Manishie gave birth to two boys, and Abraham named them Jonas and Myles. The boys were born healthy, and showed such potential as fisherman that Abraham started taking them on fishing trips as early as five, leaving Natayla and Manishie alone.

Time passed, and Manishie taught Natayla everything she knew about dancing, cooking, and weaving. But Natayla still felt left out from the boys' fishing trips. Wanting to make her daughter happy, both mother and daughter begged and pleaded Abraham to let her go, and finally Abraham relented. This next trip with Natayla did not prove to be in vain, because of her weaving skills she proved to be a master of untangling the fishing nets and casting them out at the perfect distance. Due to this, Abraham began to love her as a daughter again.

After Natayla turned 15, Manishie gave birth, yet again, to another boy. After a heated debate, the parents decided to go with Natayla's name suggestion: Peter. Peter Hawker, with his brown hair and blue eyes, looked so much like Natayla that the two siblings bonded very quickly. Two years had passed and Manishie was once again pregnant. Unfortunately something went very wrong during childbirth and, not only did Manishie die, but the baby as well, who Natayla learned soon after would have been a girl.

After Manishie died, Abraham sat Natayla down and gave her the low-down: no more fishing trips for her, she has to step up and be the matriarch now, and that it is now time to grow up. Meanwhile, as a popular fisherman and merchant, Abraham would continue his business along with Jonas, Myles, and eventually Peter. Although heartbroken, Natayla agreed to her new guidelines. After all, everybody depended on her now. And unless she was chosen to be a tribute, nothing was going to change that.
