Appearance:
Gamoc is built athletically. All of his years of swimming, holding onto fishing poles, and horseplaying with his brothers has helped to keep him in shape. Gamoc has brown hair, which he keeps neatly trimmed as long as he possibly can, and a trimmed beard that he uses to attract attention. His eyes are hazel in color. On his head he does get psoriasis outbreaks, and therefor flakes fall off of his head at embarrassing moment.Personality:
Through his years of horse playing and swimming, he has acquired a collection of scars and bruises, which he looks upon proudly and has a story for most any of them. His proudest one is on his leg. Never before in his life has he felt a pain that could match that of being stabbed in his thigh. His younger siblings were being picked on by a group of older kids in the school yard one rainy afternoon. Little did Gamoc know whenever he went to go fight them that one of them had managed to get his hands on a knife. It took two peacekeepers to break up the fight, which, as well, ended up in lashings for both groups.
Overall, Gamoc is protective over his sibling, as most older brothers are these days. He has two younger brothers name Jeremy and Gavin. Jeremy is his full brother and Gavin is his half-brother descended from his father. Gamoc would do absolutely anything to protect the two of them from harm. He is very family oriented and dreams to one day have his own children who he could protect from harm. However, he dreads it for two reasons as well. His most worrisome terror is, of course, the Hunger Games. Gamoc isn't sure what he would do...or say if his brothers or future children were to be repeaed and killed in the arena. The second setback would be his sexuality. Given that he is gay, this makes the entire process of having children difficult for him to swallow.History:
Intelligence is a key factor. No, Gamoc is not valedictorian or beyond the intelligence levels of normal human beings. However common sense and book sense have both blessed him. His marks in school are excellent and he spends every evening that he isn't out on the lake going over Algebra with his younger siblings and reading a book. The television never really met his fancy, especially what with the one event that they were forced to watch in school every year. Looking at one any other time appalled him. It was all books, and he urged his younger siblings to follow suit.
Gamoc has never been left hungry. His Father is a very successful fisher and can spot movement in water from nearly 100 yards away. This keen vision has been a hereditary trait in his family for many generations. However, even though Gamoc has never needed to gather Tesseraes, he has never eliminated the possibility of being reaped, and therefore spends much time exercising and practicing sword fighting with wooden stick with Jeremy and Gavin. He has read many books on survival and plants which are safe to eat in different locations.
Worry. Guilt. This is probably his biggest flaw. As kind and optimistic as he tries to be, he never seems to be able to escape from worry and guilt. He worries nonstop about his brothers being beaten at school or being reaped. He feels guilty over the slightest things: Neglecting to show appreciation when a door is held open or merely having a dream where he stood by and allowed his brothers to be reaped and sent off to the games. Every day these things nag at him. He does his best to tune them out, to find other things to focus on, and generally it works, but every night he falls asleep and every morning he awakens it all begins again.
When Gamoc was six years old, his mother gave birth to Jeremy Omena. Shortly thereafter, his mother died of a malignant tumor found on her ovaries. It was shocking that Jeremy was even able to pass through without so much as rupturing the tumor, however he did weaken it and it burst within days of her returning home. Taking her life...taking Gamoc's life. When one is so young, he or she has not yet separated the relations between him and one of his parents being two separate people. Mommy is supposed to always be there to protect you...and then she is gone. Three years later, his father married Margaret, who was his mother's cousin and close friend. One year after that, Gavin was born. They were a close family, although feelings were harsh for Margaret at first between Jeremy and Gamoc, they soon warmed up to her and began to love her as their own mother, however Margaret could never replace Gamoc's mother's place in his heart.Codeword: odair
His childhood was sheltered. In his early years, to prevent nightmares, his parents led him to believe that all of the people playing in the games were completely voluntary. It wasn't until his brother was born and Gamoc was able to conceive tangible memories of the reapings that he realized exactly what was happening. The horror struck him as he was certain he would be chosen. At that time, he didn't realize that the names were drawn at random. His young mind still failed to comprehend large crowds of people actually existing when he was not around, and therefor made the connection in such an illogical way. When his mother and father actually sat him down and explained the Games, he felt a little better, however the worry still struck him. His father took him to the lake. His father had him do strenuous work that made his body ache every night when he went to sleep. Those long days before he began to go to school, and while he went to school spending weekends at the lake. Growing up consisted of much exercise, and when he began to worry...and have nightmares...his father pushed his exercising much harder.
When he was twelve he attended his first reaping. He was relieved to see that he was not the only one crying. Next to him was a boy named Garth. When the reaping was over and they were safely back in their homes, the two of them began to get to know each other quite well. Three months later and Gamoc asked him out on a date. They were twelve years old, so they could only merely go to the water and lay out by the shore. When the two of them attended the reaping two years later, Garth disappeared. Gamoc has not heard or seen from him since then, and has been heart broken ever since.
