Nelson Bourgoin - District 5 (FINISHED)

Nelson is the stereotypical short guy with a big attitude. He stands no taller than 5'4, with extremely curly red hair and and freckles. He has a large scar on his cheek from getting in to a fight when he was 8 years old. He has a very "loud" appearance, being easily spotted in a large crowd due to his bright hair. It's always been somewhat of an insecurity for him.

Nelson has struggled with weight problems his entire life, which he absolutely hates. As soon as he became old enough, he began to work out relentlessly to become slimmer and more attractive, unfortunately to no avail. Although he got much stronger in his teen years, he was unable to shed his pudgy stomach. It disgusts him to know that he isn't fit. He hates fat on others just as much as he hates it on himself.

Nelson has a big attitude and a quick temper. He loves to makes himself look like the head honcho and will go to big lengths to do so. He values friendship above all else, although he doesn't always pick the best ones. He can be overly dramatic at times, often to the point of getting on others' nerves. However, despite his small but annoying flaws, he is well liked by his peers.

Nelson, although not the athletic type, has always had a special love of competition, especially the Hunger Games. Although his friends love it as well, most find it annoying or disgusting. However, the fame that follows entrances him. After all, what is the sole purpose of life other than to be remembered after it's over?

Nelson can be very hard to get along with. He is very overbearing simply because he loves to prove himself. He has a thirst for attention, whether it be positive or negative. He has a low tolerance for anything that he finds pointless or stupid. He has a tendency to be very aggressive, mainly because he grew up without a mother. However, although he may be aggressive, he's far from heartless.

Nelson grew up about as hard as you can. His mother died during childbirth, leaving his father, his only living family member, to raise him all alone. They were not poor, but with Nelson's father working so many hours at the factory, he spent a large amount of time by himself, using his imagination to create games to play and friends to play them with. Now that he's grown a bit, not having friends isn't a big problem. However, he still prefers working alone.

Nelson was blessed with a whole lot of brainpower. He's at the top of his class at school, and has always had a knack for outsmarting authority and solving any problems that come his way. However, he loves to have fun and break the rules, often leading to him getting in trouble one way or another. Nelson, however, has never cared for rules or authority, and always has a mouthful of choice words ready for a teacher or PeaceKeeper trying to set him straight.

When he was 8 years old, he was outside playing with his dog when 2 older teenagers tried to mug him. Although he tried to explain that he had no money, they beat him up anyway. When a PeaceKeeper heard the noise and came to investigate, they ran, leaving Nelson to the PeaceKeeper, who did nothing to resolve the horrible situation. He has never forgotten the horrible event, as it has led to his affinity for violence and disrespect for authority.
