[/blockquote]Personality:Siran Alexandrova, although she tends to go by Alex, isn't a traditional girl. Instead of letting her hair be strangled by the restraining, professional buns that her teachers chastise her for not maintaining, the she wears it free and loose. A dark brown when clean, it could easily be mistaken for black by the passerby were it not for the highlights of chestnut-coloured strands shooting through, natural and hateful. Alex's hair splays towards her shoulders, cut short and layered nicely. While it is technically wavy, she made a curler for a class project in 8th grade, and has used it since then. Though her hair used to be terribly burned, but as of late she's actually managed to figure out how to use the thing.
Her skin is pale, like most of the citizens in District 6. A light speckle of freckles on the bridge of her nose, and under either eye, are the only flaws on her skin, besides the normal couple of zits that every teenager gets every now and then. Alex takes good care of it, more so than her younger sister. Good skin, however is a genetic trait. Not much effort invested in keeping it well-maintained besides washing it every morning. No particularly noticeable scars or birthmarks, nothing remarkable about it, really. She small knot-shaped callous on her left ring finger from writing, making the constant notes and calculations that were are part of her education. Her hands, small and long fingered, are accustomed to making delicate sketches, not rough and thick like those of the lower districts.
Alex is short for her age, and just below the normal weight standard. Only 5 pounds or so from the absolute norm, she has slight, but noticeable nonetheless, muscles on her legs and arms.
Alex's eyes are a mossy, distant shade of light green. Her ears are pierced, once in the cartilage and twice in the lobe. She finds the look gives her a dark, harder to approach look. Her haircut lets her ears show. While not everyone may have the same outlook on the holes in her ears, the general opinion is that it's her trying to look rebellious. It's pretty much accurate. Alex just wants to look a bit different, and enjoys the kind of attention that she draws to herself as that girl.
This teen tends to dress on the darker side, the colour palate of her wardrobe leaning more towards navy-blue and black rather than the sterile white she is used to seeing around the house. Her most commonly worn outfit is a mix of black jeans, just a little too big for her, and one of her several black and purple tight fitting tee shirts. Over that, it's not uncommon to see the girl wearing dark blue jacket, tied with two strings in the center. Unlike most of her family's wardrobe, it doesn't provide an actual function beyond appearance. They were appalled to find out that she had bought something that served no purpose; a coat that generated no heat was a waste of money in their minds.
[/blockquote]History:Everyone has a little bit of good in them, everyone has their piece of the pie. Of course, by no means is any one person perfect; it just isn't possible. Perfection itself is a flaw, creating a paradox of wrongs and rights. Someone out there might think that Alex is perfect, but doubtfully. Every person has their pitfalls, their weaknesses and traits they'd rather not bring to light. Everyone has their dirty little secret, their attributes that make them uniquely them. Two people may be similarly kind, but almost no one is exactly the same kind of 'wrong' as someone else. Alex is no exception to the rule. As is the way with all people, she's a mixture of the good, the bad and, of course, the ugly.
The good:
Alex is bold, daring and painfully head strong at times. She runs, rather than walks. Her attitude towards even the most daunting things is that with enough work, she can make due. While most people understand that some things are, in fact, unattainable, she can't wrap her head around that. Besides all of this, she's not actually all that optimistic. The girl just perseveres, stubbornly. Promises are something made to be kept, rules are made to be broken. That reflects in her less than stellar grades, but group of close friends. Most people have either a large group of sort of, kind of, maybe friends, or a very small, tightly knit group. Alex maintains the latter- if group can be used to describe the two friends she has.
Honesty isn't always a good thing, but she maintains it no matter what. She'd rather confess to murder than lie about something like skipping class. As a result of her honesty, she's especially sensitive to people calling her a liar, and her conscious about dishonesty is like a bloodhound in its relentlessness. Loud and often unnecessarily outgoing, she's what the shy girl dreams of being. Alex says what's on her mind, regardless of repercussions.
The bad:
Moderation isn't one of her strong points, to say the least. When she's angry, she's furious. When happy, ecstatic. Her commitment to following things through transfers even to her emotions, showing in everything that she does. Alex is a girl of extremes. Her stubbornness gets to the point of ignorance towards other opinions, and her confidence tends towards arrogance. Her inability to back down leads her towards the many- many- fights that she gets into wherever she goes. As per her District, she's intelligent enough, but not distinctly. All of her talents go into her witty insults, not actual grades. Skipping classes and getting detentions for fights tends to lower the GPA a bit.
As said, Alex is extreme. It's partially because she has problems restraining herself, stopping from going through with something she knows she shouldn't. When people whisper near her, or even talk, there's an irresistible compulsion for her to listen in. After that, something else, something without conscious volition, makes her interject into the conversation. Answer a question not meant for her; it's one of the things people most often find annoying about her. Of course, in Alex's mind, she's not in the wrong. If people are having a conversation in public, it's a public discussion; that's her reasoning. Most people tend not to agree. Especially after having their privacy tossed to the wolves by this girl.
The ugly:
Alex is defensive. Incredibly defensive, when it comes to herself, her friends, or really, anyone. It isn't prettysee what I did therewhen someone decides it's a good day to insult her. Alex thinks she's always right- there is no wrong in her mind to speak of. It used to be that simply correcting her was enough to get her to jump at someone, but she's managed to rein it in to the point where you have to actually say something mildly offensive for her to attack you. Unfortunately, her idea of mildly offensive is somewhat looser than the average 15 year olds'. Jokes, for instance, are a great social impediment for the poor girl. If someone makes a joke about her best friend's nose, then they better start running. Humour seems like a terrible, terrible thing to Alex. Yet, somehow she's grasped the idea of sarcasm enough to be absolute battery acid. Siran may be loud, but that doesn't have to mean she's friendly.

Her family is what she assumes is the average in District 6; after all, what experience has she had otherwise? Their house was always prim, polished and painted a sterile white that still haunts her dreams. Their house was averagely sized, and is still the same one. Her family is as set in their ways as she is, although theirs are rather different from hers. Deep into the District, they live just outside the merchant section. Her parents' incomes are nothing special, the average. Her mother works at the schools, teaching higher level algebra for people with IQ's at least 30 points above Alex's. Her father researches genetics, one of the men behind the mutts. Alex finds his work both fascinating and repulsive, though it's not something she'd want to do with her life. Despite the pressure from both of her parents to take after them, she's not actually sure what she wants to do with herself.
When she was younger, she used to have nightmares about a great white light that would come for her. Even as a teenager- though she'd never admit it- she's still somewhat shy of the colour. There was nothing particularly threatening about the idea of it, but for some reason, the white light was the only recurring dream she had ever had. Her parents were unsympathetic and cruelly logical. "It doesn't exist, Siran. Why worry about it?" They would ask her when she tried to crawl into bed with them, terrified. She realized when she was only 5 that they would never understand her fear. So when she awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of a thunderstorm, she'd grasp the covers of her bed in her pudgy little fingers, and try to go back to sleep.
The gap that started from the dream grew larger and more noticeable as Alex matured. It was obvious from the beginning that the child was from a different stock from her parents. She didn't even have their physical appearances. Her mother, with her wispy blond hair and full frame, and her father, with his gap toothed frowns and mussed light brown tangles were unlike her physically as well as mentally. The gap became a chasm with the birth of her younger sister: Angeline.
Of course, her sister was a clone. Her brooding eyes were the same deep brown of her mother's, and her delicately bridged nose was just like their father's. She showed a proficiency in Math and Science from the beginning. Angeline was the good daughter. Quiet and withdrawn from a young age, the two sisters were absolute opposites. Angie, however, lived in her own little world of numbers and letters, not the real, harsh one they lived in. Even though life was easier for them than most, Alex does care for her sister and tries to protect her from the big bad world out there. The bubble she has wrapped around herself doesn't have to pop for a while, she reasons. A long, long while, if she has any say about it.
As said, Alex's grades never have been phenomenal. They're pretty much middle of the road B-'s that keep her right there, dangling above a C. If pushed, she could probably make a B+. Never really tried in academics. The girl was always more athletic than academic when it came to school. She joined a small group of people that liked to run, who were jokingly called the 'track team'. They met every Wednesday and went running- that was the expanse of her obligations. It was the one club that she stuck with until it disbanded because people stopped showing up. Too much homework, they said. Alex got the same amount; she just chose not to do it.
Alex has gotten in her fair share of fights over the year, starting with punching someone in pre-k when they called her a baby. His nose was bleeding right where her fist had hit him, and she had realized, I can do that? A good, old fashioned duel is her way of settling disputes, and seems to always have been.
She currently doesn't talk to her parents unless they require her to, which isn't often.
