Personality:
Standing at 5'3", Penin is of average height for her age, yet not of average weight. She is very skinny, yes, but she has muscles, being from District 4 and working in the water. You have to be strong to fight the currents, correct?
Since she lives in that district and works out in the sun, what better way is there for her to get a perfect tan? Her skin is strong and resilient so she barely gets sunburn anymore, even though she used to get it a lot when she was young. The only downside to having a tan is that your scars don't darken, they stay the original color of your skin, or they turn pink. And, well, Peninsula has a lot of scars from her father, who was an abusive man.
Speaking of scars, let me tell you a bit about them.
Penin has a long, jagged mark that starts on her shoulder and goes all the way down to her elbow, barely stopping at the soft flesh that holds some main veins. She's had it for about seven years, so its become smaller, but it never changed from its light pink color that looked like it was a horrible burn.
She also has a few scars running her back, from a broken bottle her dad had swung at her when she was thirteen. They look like a mountain lion scratched her, it's so bad.
There's one more, a small scar on her thigh. She got this from a fish hook accidentally catching on her skin, but it luckily didn't do much damage.
Moving on to her hair, it is a long mass of platinum blonde locks, originally honey colored. But, years of working in the sun has lightened it to its current color. Not that she's complaining, though.
Her eyes are a dark blue, set in a mysterious face with high cheekbones and full lips. Her nose is slightly longer than usual, but it runs in her family to have noses like that. Her eyelashes are naturally long, adding to the imperfect beauty of her.
Peninsula is a social girl. She's not afraid to say what she thinks, unless it's what she thinks about the whole Hunger Games system, which she really, really hates and doesn't approve of.History:
She likes to keep her sad emotions bottled up inside, never saying a word about her troubles, afraid she'd be bothering anyone who would actually listen. She cries herself to sleep at night, but silently, so that her father doesn't hear her and start beating her.
She has a strong will, though. Penin doesn't like to give up, no matter the consequence. Even if that punishment is death, she will not give up, choosing to sacrifice her own life for a good cause.
Peninsula is quite lively, no matter the troubles she has, but doesn't have many friends. That's because, despite her loudness and sarcasm, she's actually very shy under the front cover. Therefor, she doesn't exactly like to confront people or go up to people, unless needed desperately.
Sadly, this girl's history is not very nice. It will not give you any warm feelings, such as happiness, joy, love, ect. Instead, it may give you the chills, or feeling of pity for Peninsula.Codeword: Odair
Peninsula's birth way very drastic, and unseen, as she was born two weeks earlier than her due date. She was born with medical issues, and her mother began to be very weak after her birth.
When Penin was three months old, her mother was hospitalized, as she was in a coma. Her father became distant, not like himself, and failed to support the family. For three years after that, her mother stayed in that coma, but her father regained some common sense and started to drink a little, going to work once more.
Then, the unthinkable happened. Her mother died. She had been pronounced brain-dead, and soon after, her heart followed the brain's lead and stopped completely.
Her father was devastated and somehow got it into his mind that Penin was the cause of her mother's death.
He became a drunk, and Peninsula was forced to begin working at an early age so they could earn some money to to keep this broken family alive.
Then, her father started hitting her, even cutting her. One day, he took a knife and sliced her arm open, then took her to the hospital and said she had hurt herself trying to cook for them.
Another time, he was so drunk and angry, he smashed one of the bottles and ripped her back open, saying it was the cat they owned. He hated that cat and, under the pretense it was dangerous, he had it killed by one of his friends.
She began to swirl into depression, but always stayed just out of reach of its grip. She needed to stay alive, after all, and she did still love her father. Or, she at least loved the man he had once been.
