She walked into the room where her trapeze was waiting for her to practice. She walked over to where her fire sticks lay in a pile and picked them up. She would practice the stunt without fire first then she would practice it with. She climbed up to the board, the fire sticks in her mouth, and grabbed the rod. She hung herself off the bar with her knees and began swinging back and forth while tossing the fire sticks into the air as she arced through the air. Her musical giggles echoed through the gym as she caught and tossed, caught and tossed.
The sound of music coming from one of the music rooms perked her interest as she walked through the hallway. She peaked her head into the room and saw a friend of hers, Clarrisa, also known as Classic, practicing on her piano. She smiled. "That sounds wonderful, Classical" she said, making her friend stop what she was doing. She looked up at Soleil, a smile playing at the edges of her lips. "You made me loose my rhythm" She said, sticking her tongue out at Soleil. Soleil returned the gesture and leaned against the piano. "So, what where you just playing?" She asked. Classical smiled. "Just a little something I wrote" She replied, blushing. Soleil knew Classical was modest about her music writing and knew she got embarassed whenever someone complimented her music. She smiled as Classical began running through the piece again. It was a lovely piece, one Soleil knew she'd never be able to play as well as Classical but that didn't bother her. She listened until the song was done, then she clapped for her friend before heading out again towards the cafeteria.
Soleil was raised by the instructors who taught her how to follow her passion for trapeze. One of the instructors in particular, Annette Percival, she was very close with. Annette had become like a mother to her and she could tell her anything; boy problems, school problems, fears, secrets, you name it, she could tell Annette. Annette found Soleil on the doorstep of the academy when she was four and took in little Soleil as if she were her own. She herself was a trapeze artist and wanted her adopted daughter to be like her. It quickly became clear that Soleil loved doing trapeze but one thing did worry Annette, that was Soleil's love of fire. She'd already been burned herself a few times and didn't want Soleil to have to go through the same thing. Soleil ran her hand over the smoothness of the bar as she prepared to preform her ultimate trick, the one she'd been practicing with the fire sticks. She hooked her knees onto the bar, making sure she had a good grip on them before lighting the fire sticks and letting go of the board. She did just as she'd practiced and performed it perfectly. The adrenaline running through her veins made her feel giddy, excited. As she landed, she caught the fire sticks in her hand, bowed, and accepted the applause from the audience. It had been a daring act but she'd done it, she'd successfully done a stunt with her two favorite things; trapeze and fire.
After the performance, Glitch approached her and gave her a high five. "Nice work out there. That stunt was amazing" He said, making her blush. Classical ran up to her and gave her a hug. "That was stunning, inspiring even. I should write some music to go with your performances" She said, pulling away. Soleil beamed, feeling brighter than the sun. She walked away with her two friends as they headed to the dorm
