She thought she would be able to handle it. She slaughtered animals for dinner before. Blood didn't make her squimish. But when Bae stepped off the platform and onto the battlefield, her heart nearly stopped. Everyone seemed blood thirsty. The Careers had wild looks in their eyes, and some were laughing. How sick were these people. Suddenly, Travis' words came back to her. Don't change, stay the girl he knew and loved. She had taken a deep breath. She reached for something, and the next thing she knew, she had a giant gash on her calf. the pain brought her to her knees. Slowly she had stood back up and looked around. She reached for another item, and she felt an axe come down on the back of her neck. It was a shallow cut, but it had sent her to the ground again. Now she was bleeding from the gash in her leg and felt her energy leaving her. She had got back up and gazed around. Jabber They were ganging up on Jabber, she held back the tears as she turned away there was no helping him now.
She swallowed and limped towards glaive. Someone beat her to it and slammed into her, knocking her backwards. She turned and looked about. There, a purse. She dragged herself towards it, blood gushing from her leg. SHe had reached down and found someone had cut her left arm. It wasn't bad, but she turned away. She should run, leave the battle, but no there, look, another item. She reached for it slowly with her right arm. Out of her peripheral vision she had saw the axe coming down. She reached up and blocked it with her hand on the handle. The girl had grabbed what she had wanted though. Oh well. She watched Jabber slowly die yards away. She closed her eyes and whispered an apology to his still form. Would she be next?
The blood was still seeping from her wounds when she reached for some brass knuckles. Someone swung down at her and severed her hand. Suddenly the blood loss was to much and she fell to the ground. Bae took a shaky breath. She was done now. She looked around hoping a camera was on her, then didn't. Roan, her sweet little brother would be watching. And Travis. Oh, Travis. They hadn't know each other long, but she thought she had fallen in love. She realized she really did now. "Travis" Her voice came out shaky but clear. "Travis, take care of him... and yourself. Don't..." She coughed up blood " Don't forget me. And remember..." She was breathing heavy now, and could barely make the words. "remember... that... I will... always... love you."
With that, she had no more energy to say anything. Her eyes started to glaze over, and her thoughts wandered to her horses. She would never see them again. She would never ride Soot into the sun and Silhoutte would never dig into her pocket for a scrap of carrot. She would never listen to the ever present hum of the fence and wonder what was beyond. She would never see Roan with his head in a book, or trying to ride a horse and falling off when it starts walking. And the very last thought she had, the one she treasured the most, the one that brought a small smile to her face, was the image of Travis riding towards her in the sunrise. She had stayed the girl he love, she hadn't change.

Bae Fescue has left the mortal world to a land of open fields, horses, and no fence to keep her in. A place where the sun is always rising for her to ride into Tomorrow, a place away from the horrors of this world cannot reach her and where she waits for her love.
