If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

Lord, make me a rainbow
I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you
When she stands under my colors
. a p p e a r a n c e . Aspen has wavy auburn hair that falls to her ribs, complimentary wide bright green eyes and cute freckles. She has a rounded chin that makes her look adorable and gives off a warm nature. She has tanned skin that completely sets off the whole package. However, there is one thing that seems a bit frightening about her. On her left cheek, a large scar was left there from when she was little. She had gotten a little close to her father swinging an axe and would have been beheaded if it weren't for her sister.
Aspen has long legs and fingers and are quite swift and graceful with them. She is amazingly flexible and her balance is pretty decent. However, even though she may be light footed, she isn't very fast. She would rather hop along things than run. It makes things quicker for her anyway. Aspen has a slight yet firm frame and was built to climb trees, her spidery legs and arms perfect for the job. She is 6'1", quite tall for her age and weighs 106 lbs. Aspen is quite thin and doesn't get fed well at her house. She doesn't have the much meat on her and finds herself tiring easily. She isn't one for stamina, it seems.
Aspen wears a white v-neck tee shirt and ripped jean shorts. She also seems to be addicted to ribbons and bows. One is usually tied to keep her hair up, one knotted around her neck and two laced around her hands that act like fingerless gloves. For footwear, she wears old leather boots. She usually carries around a small leather satchel that holds all of her paper, books and notes. She wears a wood carving necklace of an aspen leaf, she likes to think of it as good luck.
And I'll be wearing white,
When I come into your kingdom
As green as the ring
On my little cold finger
When I come into your kingdom
As green as the ring
On my little cold finger
. p e r s o n a l i t y . Aspen is very cheerful and happy. She likes to think positively and always seems to lighten up the situation. Her optimistic and encouraging nature is soothing to most. She is a bit of a jokester and enjoys hearing laughter and smiles, especially when she causes them. She is very patient and outgoing, helping others no matter that their problem is. She is a great and loyal friend who would never stab anyone in the back. She isn't shy and has no problems with making acquaintances around the district.
Aspen can be stubborn sometimes. She makes her own decisions and usually follows through with them. Once she's made them, you can't change her mind. She isn't easily convinced of anything new and doesn't want to believe anything you say if it goes against what she previously thought. She doesn't really like to do real work and can somehow always get away with reading and writing music and stories in the trees.
Aspen seems to be curious about everything. She always yearns to know more, which can prove useful at some points. Being like that, she has learned many survival skills and knows a lot more than most kids her age. But, curiosity killed the cat. Aspen can be a little nosy at times and gets into stuff she isn't supposed to be in or is just asking so many questions it's just plain annoying.
Aspen is very brave and bold. She isn't afraid to speak her mind and usually talks when she shouldn't or argues with the wrong people. She can have a bit of an attitude and, as said before, can get stubborn and sassy.
Aspen finds herself in her own little world often. She likes to imagine things beyond possibility and rambles on and on about her dreams. She always wishes they would come true. But every time she does tell anyone, they just say she's letting her mind run away too far.
Who knew forever
Could be severed by
The sharp knife of a short life
I've had just enough time
Could be severed by
The sharp knife of a short life
I've had just enough time
. h i s t o r y . Aspen had an unpredictable history and will have an unpredictable future. She was named after the aspen tree that grew in her backyard. It was fall and her hair resembled the orange leaves that sprouted on the tree. Aspen had two older twin siblings named Willow and William. Willow loved Aspen and William seemed to have a particular hate for her.
When Aspen was three, she was able to walk well and go outside. Willow and William were watching over her while her mother was making lunch and her father was chopping wood. Aspen had got a little to close to her father and just before she was killed, Willow swiped her out of the way. That's where she earned her scar that stretches across her cheek today. It makes her a little more intimidating than she previously was.
When Aspen was five, she started in her parents’ main career. Syrup making. Every morning she would gather the sap buckets and switch the spiles to different trees. Aspen enjoyed this and would spend more time there. As she grew up, she would hang out in the trees and read books and write her own with the exile sheets of paper she would find blowing around. Even when it wasn't morning, she would always find an excuse to go out into the forest and just hide away from District 7 for a while.
When Aspen was eight, she was almost always sitting on branches. She would sing a lot, her pretty yet undeveloped voice would ring through the forest. She was completely care free and unnoticed. She did everything her own way, not condoning to anything but her rules. She would dance around in the leaves and play with her hair in the woods. It was a beautiful time those days. She ignored how starved she was. Her family was poor as syrup was a rich delicacy and barely anyone could afford it. However, they always were able to pull through when a peacekeeper, the mayor, or even some District 7 victors were craving something sweet.
When Aspen was 12, her life started to turn the wrong way. Her brother William started to get into trouble. He and Willow were 19 at the time, both of them had gone passed their reaping age. He eventually moved out with a girl he had just met, only to come back pleading for food and money. The Crosses reluctantly took him back in and sent him away after a week. Willow stayed at the house, helping with the syrup business. They were much happier after William was gone. But soon after, Aspen's father fell ill. He nearly died but somehow lived through it all.
Aspen is 15. Her father is crippled and useless, his arms and legs limp. Everything was ok and Aspen likes to hide away in the branches. She is very social at school and has many friends there. Her mother and Willow keep the business going most of the time. Speaking of Willow, she has settled down with a husband. As for William? No one really knows. [/left]
A penny for my thoughts, oh no
I'll sell them for a dollar
They're worth so much more
After I'm a goner
I'll sell them for a dollar
They're worth so much more
After I'm a goner
