Katniss, where's Katniss? My blue eyes scan the crowded square of the Capitol , searching for my sister. She's the rebels symbol, the mockingjay, the victor of the 74th annual hunger games and a survivor of the horrific quarter quell. I'm Primrose Everdeen, Katniss' younger sister. My blue eyes catch sight of her squad, coming down the street towards the blockade of innocent Capitol children who are set up in front of President Snow's mansion. For the last few weeks, I've been living in District thirteen where I've been training to become a nurse and now, the only reason I'm here, is because I'm needed for first aid once the fighting is over. I see my mother, her blonde hair sticks out among the darker haired residents of thirteen and she nods at me. I know that she is worried about me but I can take care of myself, despite popular belief. Then, the bombs go off. Shock goes through me before I'm rushing forward to help the survivors. I've seen this type of pain before, helping my mother back in district twelve, seeing people who were injured this badly was common. I pulled out my first aid kit and reached out to the nearest child, a little boy with big brown eyes and dark hair. I won't let you die my eyes told him.[/blockquote]
I began helping whomever I could, my confident hands moving swiftly over the injuries. The children cried for us but suddenly, the rest of the parachutes exploded. I screamed as my body was engulfed in flames and pain wracked my body. This was what dying felt like. I kept screaming as the flames licked at my body, burning me alive. Just let me die I prayed, my thoughts beginning to go fuzzy. Then I knew nothing, far away I could hear Katniss screaming for me but it was too late. I closed my eyes forever and let myself fly away like a mockingjay I knew my sister represented.
When I opened my eyes again, the first person I saw was my dad. He'd died in a mining accident back when I was seven. He smiled at me. "Welcome home Prim" He said. I ran to him, throwing my arms around him and he lifted me up like he used to when I was little and swung me around. I giggled, my sorrows and pain gone as we walked away into the sunlight.
