Only I can see my Friends
Once again a nightmare brutally awoke Madison as it frequently has since the arrangement to a new home better fit to handle the strange little girl. From the expensive doctor bills, inability for her parents to keep track of a wondering young child, plus the new violent behaviors, Madison's parents could no longer control her. How little Madi wished so hard to take back listening to Alison by hitting her very own mother which caused the trip to the crazy house. But her hallucinogens were becoming more and more real with age, as much as Madison tried she couldn't ignore her imaginary friends and animals. In a way Madison was fearful of loosing her only friends, the ones she didn't have to share because no one else could see them, rarely believing they were even there for Madi herself.
Crazy was a mean title, one that Madison was attempting to rid of in order to be sent home. That was the only reason she attempted to seem normal when others were around. Looking around the bare room that she had yet to make her own yet, she was frantic to find her closest companion. "Ali?" Madison asked with her innocent voice cracking in fear.
"Right here Madi." Alison reassured, Madison's eyes darting to the sound by the boxes she had yet to unpack. Sitting on the edge of the bed Alison left no imprint as she wasn't really there to anyone except the small girl who really believed Alison was real, along with a few others.
Currently only Alison and her pet cat named Spider were occupying Madison's disease. Spider was perched up on the window edge that over-looked fields of green through heavy, containing bars, as Alison stayed close to Madi as she always did, waiting for a command to give the little girl. "Oh good." Madison stated with a smile as she threw her scrawny arms around Alison for a hug, it was truly becoming too real for her. "I had another nightmare." She told just as she told Ali everything. "Spiders this time." The light green eyes darted down to the color-less sheet that could never keep her fully warm at night, one day she'd search for her blanket within the few boxes laying untouched.
"Don't worry Madison it was only a dream." Alison comforted, her voice sweet as candy to Madi's ears, especially hearing her own come from her best friend's perfect pink lips. Everything about Alison was perfect in Madison's eyes, as if she was the ideal little girl with long blonde wavy hair, and piercing blue eyes. Certainly Alison had a bit of control over Madison's actions. "Are you ready for school?" Ali asked energetically with a huge smile that spread from ear-to-ear.
"I'm not suppose to leave, remember?" Madison reminded looking around her empty room that held only a bed, dresser, desk, chair and of course the untouched boxes. It felt as if unpacking was accepting where she now resided, Madi wanted nothing more then to prove her wellness and get back home. Escaping and wondering off was not a way to do that though.
"But you have to go to school." Alison corrected. "They told you last night, don't tell me you forgot again Madi!" Disappointment was in the imaginary girl's voice, a tone that Madi hated to hear. Wanting nothing more then to always gain Alison's approval, it was rare for Madison to not listen.
"Oh right!" The little girl exclaimed completely excited to be getting out of the house. Rushing towards the dresser the only thing Madison managed to put away was her clothing of course. Having on an adorable dress and brushing her dirty-blonde locks was all apart of Madison's ritual in the morning, often asking for Alison's opinion knowing she'd never let Madi walk out of the house not looking her best. "Pink or black?" Madison asked holding up two tiny, frilly dresses.
"Either. Just make sure you wear your boots." Alison advised. "Don't forget tights either, it's cold." She always did have the best advice and Madison happily slipped into her dress, tights, and boots. "Be quiet and sneaky." Alison told right before they were about to exit the room.
"Why? I thought I was suppose to go?" Madison questioned stopping in her tracks out of fear Alison was telling her to do something bad as everyone tried telling her.
"Because everyone's still sleeping." Alison told just as she was able to come up with a brilliant excuse to anything Madison threw her way. "Don't you trust me?" She asks looking at Madi with big, tearful eyes.
"Of course I do." Madison reassured with a smile as she creeped open the door for the two of them to tip-toe past the bedrooms and downstairs. It was still early with the sun only beginning to heat up the winter cold earth. "Should we grab some food first?" She asked always looking to Alison to decide the final plan.
"We'll pick something up on the way." Alison says practically pushing Madison out the door. "Let's go through the town, we have plenty of time before school." Pointing the way, Madison skipped down the road solo. Reaching the shops, the small girl's stomach growled to indicate its starvation. "Why don't you grab one of those apples?" Alison suggests referring to the open fruit stands.
"Did you bring any money?" Madison asked because she clearly learned last time stealing wasn't allowed, one of the reasons she was separated from her parents and told that Alison was a bad imaginary friend.
"No. But they won't care. You're a little girl." Alison told as she directed them closer so Madi could easily slip one as they walked. Without question the ignorant little girl reached up for a shiny apple and continued walking. A sigh of relief when they reached far enough Madison knew no one had noticed her theft. "See that was easy." Ali giggled as to condone robbing. "And now you have breakfast."
"Shh someone's coming." Madison begged as she toke a bite of the apple.
"Why only you can see me?" Alison asked though they both knew it was because Madison had a difficulty resisting to talk back to Ali while others were around. That was how the title crazy, or Mad Madi happens, when people knew of the little girl's problems. "They look bad, you should punch them." Alison attempts to convince.
"No. Stop it Ali." Madison mumbles attempting to seem like a normal little girl, though no one her age would be walking around alone and unprotected.
"Do it." Alison eggs on as the person gets closer, making Madison become mute and bite her tongue trying not to talk back to Ali. "Do it." Ali continues to provoke repeatedly.
"Stop it!" Madi finally screams at the mid-air as it seems like to people. Peering up at the person with an innocent smile and her eyes sparkling against the sunshine, Madison continued on her path in hope they'd think nothing of it.
