SAGE MONSOON
There's no remedy for memory your face is
Like a melody, it won't leave my head
Your soul is haunting me and telling me
That everything is fine
But I wish I was dead

Another depressing day.
What am I doing, again? My eyes gleam at the library that lies right across the street. It feels like it got smaller since I was a little, maybe that was because I thought everything was big at that age. The white paint on the outside was chipping off, but that's expected to happen to such an old building, right? The street complimented the building with it's dark charcoal color. Now, if I could just cross the street without getting wet from all the puddles. There was a good amount of rain yesterday, and I just hated it. Had to stay inside the whole day, without even going to the library to get a book to entertain myself. Eventually, though, I made it across the street without a single drop of water touching my raggedy clothes. Caterina was telling me about how there was a new shipping of books from the Capitol, and that I should check them out for her. Of course, I'd take any chance to go to the library. These new books were supposed to be many different love stories, ranging from many different genres. I've never been the type to get into all the love and mushy books like that, but it won't hurt to check them out, right? I know Caterina just loves stories like that, and anthing that will make her happy will make me happy.
What do I choose? I peeked my little head into the library to discover a little surprise. The main librarian was setting up a shelf just for the new love books that have came in. There were so many of them, I couldn't even count them. I definitely saw the prices of them, though, and I cringed inside at the sight of them. If Caterina wanted one, we would have to either earn up the money to buy one, or steal it. I didn't usually steal books from the library, because I really dislike doing bad things, but it was the only way. The door creaked as I pushed it open to stroll into the library. That fresh smell was still there, and it was completely empty. Just how I like it. The lady stacking the books didn't really notice me as I crept into there and glimpsed at the new stock of books. So many interesting titles of books, I didn't know where to start. There was one that really caught my eye though, especially the title. Now, I expected the basic love stories with the "happily ever after" aspect, but this book was different. Just the title made it seem gruesome. The book itself was titled "The Fixed Marriage", and I wanted to skim through it to get a good feel for it.
What is this about? After about five minutes of waiting in the background, the lady finished putting all the books on the shelves. My level of excitement was so high to see what this story was about. I slow tip-toed towards the shelf that had the book on it, and snatched it in silence. The cover itself was an eye-catcher. It pictured a man and a woman, in some sort of time line that I didn't even know. The backdrop was a classic stone wall, and they were both dressed in very interesting clothing. Maybe it's about a Capitol couple? The thought of it being of that put a bad taste in my mouth, but ma always told me "don't judge a book by its cover". I sat down in a nice, comfortable corner where I usually sat to read, and opened up the book. It had a short little epilogue, which pretty much explained that all marriages aren't about true love, but about more evil things. It also said something about the "medieval times", which was something not even I have recalled. This book is already on the top of my reading list just because of that. Still, this book is supposed to be for Caterina, so maybe I'll read it after she gets to get a nice feel for it. The rest of the books seems a little distasteful, but I grabbed a bright pink one titled "Princess Fairytale" for Lily to read.
Be careful, don't let anyone see. Now it's the tricky part, trying to get these books out of here without paying. The lady still hasn't noticed me, so maybe I can just go outside without her even noticing me coming in to begin with. Both of the books fit perfectly inside of my satchel, so I slipped them right into it. My eyes scanned the room to see if the coast was clear. The librarian was checking someone out, so now was my time to sneak out. With as much stealth and silence as I could, I stepped between row after row of shelves to avoid being seen by someone. So far, so good. Just as I was about to reach the door, it swung open, revealing many men in white uniforms. There was only one answer to who they are, and that's peacekeepers. I didn't want to face the same punishment I did last time I stole a book, so I waited silently behind the closest shelf for them to file in. I even counted how many there were. One, Two, Three, Four... Only four? Not that scary. Just as the door was going to slam shut, I managed to squeeze my way through the little opening before it closed. The rush of adrenaline I get each time I steal something is just too much to describe. Today's events went by so fast, and I just knew I had to take note of them in my journal. So, casually, I took out a simple pencil and my tiny, velvet colored journal, and found a nice spot right outside the library to sit down and start writing about all the things that happened.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
JOURNAL ENTRY...
April 11
Today started off with a dark grey sky, and the feeling of depression in the air. Everything took a turn for the best though, because of the Library. A new stock of books came in for me to pick though, and I picked two winners out of the stock. One for my little sister, Lily, which is titled "Princess Fairytale", and another book for me and Caterina to share, called "The Fixed Wedding". I'm really excited to read this book, because it seems like a nice plot twist to the basic love story of a book. Overall, it has been a good start to the day, and I hope it continues on.
SAGE...
What do I do now? So much has happened in so little time, and there's still the whole day ahead! The only thing I could think of doing is starting on the book I gracefully stole from the library. That sounds like a good idea, right? After crossing the street once more, I ended up in the same spot I started at. Now it was just time for me to sit back, relax, and get lost in this book. I found a comfy little spot at the ending of a wall that turned into a corner to sit down in. The district square wasn't really busy, so it was quiet enough to read. My hands reached into the satchet to grab onto the book, and even the feeling of the book gave me chills. I took out the book, opened it up, and started to get lost in the wonderful world that is... reading.
