The Anthem - Day 5

Due to the thick fog that coats the arena, it is nearly impossible to tell when the arena begins to darken, but once night falls it is entirely noticeable, as any semblance of visibility declines to nothing without the few tendrils of sunlight penetrating the fog. The sound of arrogant trumpets takes hold, and the arena is briefly lit up by the incandescent seal of the Capitol as the anthem begins to play. You expect the faces of the dead to display, but as the blackness persists, you seem to recall that there were no cannons fired today.

You recall being able to count the remaining tributes on your fingers, and with no more faces to subtract, there are still only ten tributes left — only nine remain in the way of you and your crown.

As the anthem ends, the seal of the Capitol persists, and the booming voice of Claudius Templesmith carries through the fog. "Congratulations on making it to the top ten! I hope you enjoyed the relaxing day off. Tomorrow will not be quite so restful, but there is a great bounty to be reaped at the FEAST we are throwing in your honor. Kindly make your way to the Tar Pits, where all sorts of goodies will be laid out for the taking." The delight in his voice make it seem as if he is inviting you to his birthday party rather than what is certain to be a massacre. "This is an invitation that you can't refuse, tributes — if you are unwilling to make an appearance, our hoard of Macromantulas is more than eager to drag you kicking and screaming to the festivities."
