Post by Duke Edenthaw {lau} on Aug 10, 2013 11:10:50 GMT -5
Name: Duke Edenthaw
Age: 17
Gender: Male
District/Area: District 4
Appearance: x and x and x
His sharp, symmetrical face is undeniably enticing and is to blame for making this boy thwarted as he is. His eyes are a hard blue, perfect mirrors of the deep ocean, reminiscent of his mother. He’s typically stern and unyielding in his gaze, though it’s more often than not clouded with the expression of conniving malevolence. His demeanor is reflected in his usual expression, a grim and moody one that betrays his malevolent demeanor.
Of good stature, has broad shoulders, and true to the eye he has no physical defects or conditions that would prohibit him from acting to the best of his abilities. He's fairly tall, with a slightly lanky build, though he's been well fed his whole life and has some subtle tones of muscle, able to pull his weight in terms of labor if need be. This is a result of his consistently being on his own out in the harbor; he needs to remain in consistent, good physical condition.[/blockquote]Personality:

Duke is not a very nice guy. When royally ticked off, Duke can be a man's worst enemy. When he sees red, that is literally all he sees. A hardcore narcissistic, Duke can't go a yard without idly pointing out how gorgeous he is. There is a certain inevitability to him, and urgency radiating from him that makes people believe that the world is always going to bend to his wishes. He is confrontational, relishing fights and challenges. Displaying traits of recklessness, he takes unnecessary risks often, and it doesn't matter to him if he is putting himself or someone else in danger by doing so.History:
He can be depicted as psychotic, perverted, egoistical, violent, and is your textbook definition of emotional immaturity. Duke uses others to his advantage, or to get something he desires; generally either through schemes filled with lies and broken promises or psychical and mental intimidation. No situation is acted upon without a thorough assessment of exactly how it could benefit him, extending no aid without an ulterior motive and the words 'pro bono' don't even feature to him. Always trying to be ahead of the game, Duke usually is the type to make the first move to anything by always being on the offense in a conversation, fight, or even business. He only gets along with Careers, and he believes all poor districts are inferior to Career districts.
He's much too flirty with girls, and he's cruel to those less wealthy than him. Most of the time, he's a real snob. He even likes the Hunger Games a bit because he loves watching the Career districts succeed every year. Someday, Duke would like to enter the Hunger Games himself, training whenever he gets a chance. However, usually he doesn't have much time for training because he is too busy working. He doesn't mind working--in fact, he quite likes it. He learned his trade early on. Forging tridents builds up his muscles, and making fishing nets forces him to be careful and delicate, which he needs practice in. Overall, Duke is not the kind of guy you would want to hang around with. Unless you are a Career, that is.
As a child Duke enjoyed a number of interesting hobbies, many of which disturbed his family more than slightly--such as his fascination with knives. This particular interest was a part of a broad interest in weaponry of all kinds. Duke was also fascinated with venomous snakes from a young age--seeing a trend here? The more dangerous, the better, and his family's disgust was all the more to egg him on. He tended to get involved in a lot of fights and harass and unsettle his fellow District 4 inhabitants. Having no sense of family or love, he can very well be declared a figurative box of damaged goods. Duke had a terrible childhood. It all started when his mom, his best friend, died during the birth of his brother.Codeword: Odair
He loved his mom so much, and he felt she was the only one who understood him. She bought him anything his heart desired and even if he so much as uttered a single whimper, his wish was her command. As if being spoiled by his mother wasn’t enough, Duke only had one aunt, who had married late in life and was unable to have children of her own. As a result, she too doted upon little Duke Edenthaw. This was no doubt how he acquired his bad attitude. And she died for nothing, for a week later, Duke's baby brother died as well. It was a rough time for Duke and his dad, and to handle it his dad would drink. But in his drunken rages, he would start blaming Duke for his mom dying.
Then Duke's dad would beat him, which scarred Duke both physically and mentally, oftentimes to the point of depression. The two had a terrible relationship and yet Duke still felt the need to make his dad proud. The only way to do that was to stay dedicated to his work and training and hope to become a tribute. His standards are often set well above good reason, but never-the-less he strives towards them with indestructible determination. Duke sees nothing bad about this because if he won the Hunger Games, his dad would appreciate and respect him more, and if he lost... at least he'd be joining his beloved mother again.
