Age: 19
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 1
Appearance:
Standing at five feet and ten inches, Jane is one of the tallest in her family. Besides one uncle on her mother’s side, who’s exactly six feet tall, she stands the tallest. She towers over her mother, who’s only five feet and four inches, and her father, who stands at five feet eight inches. Her height gets to her sometimes; making her wonder if she really is beautiful. Her brain tells her she isn’t whenever she looks in the mirror. But her family only seems to give her compliments: thus making her brain swirl and not know who is right.Personality:
Jane has fallen into a depression, resulting in her loss of weight. No longer the full and curvy woman she used to be, she’s simply a resemblance of her past self. Don’t be fooled, she still has most of her weight still on, but she has lost a significant amount. Jane’s family has noticed, and has gotten her help. But they aren’t giving the right support for her to make a change in her life. Instead they say that she can deal with it herself and doesn’t need to do anything. So she hasn’t been all that concerned with the weight loss.
Jane inherits her blue eyes from her father. His are much deeper than hers, resembling that of the ocean. But Jane still got his blue eyes, just in a much lighter shade. Her light brown hair resembles that of her mothers, but her mother’s hair is much lighter than hers. Her father’s, on the other hand, is much darker than hers. So her hair is like a mix between the two, which is perfect.
Recently Jane has fallen into a depression. Her mind constantly races from thought to thought, mainly because of her ADHD, but not many of the thoughts are good anymore. Most of them tell her how she’s ugly and how she needs to just stop. She doesn’t even know what she has to stop, just that she should. Sometimes the thoughts get to be too much and she’ll lock herself in the bathroom and cry for hours on end.History:
She started therapy when her parents told her it was for the best. It’s not bad, but she feels weird telling her thoughts to another person who doesn’t know her or her story. For her parents, she’s trying. She does want to get better; and over the past few weeks she has noticed an increase in her mood. She’s a bit happier, although she isn’t done just yet. Jane still has a long way to go before they’ll consider her “healed and fixed again”.
Living in District One has had its effects on her. She tries so hard to look beautiful and to fit in with there’s wonderful people, but it’s just so hard to do that when you’re overweight and slightly taller than normal. People give Jane weird looks as she walks down the street. People tend to stare at the sunken in eyes and the long, gangly, arms that she has. It’s hard to look beautiful, and her mind won’t register that she already is beautiful.
Before she was depressed, she was actually good at some things in life. She was especially good at fencing/sword fighting. She enjoyed going to the gym and training just to get stronger. (She wasn’t like the other careers who trained for the games, she trained for fun.) She also was good at talking to other people. She was able to help them with their problems, but that seemed to disappear along with her happiness.
Growing up wasn’t hard for her. She lived in a nice and big house with her mother and father, no siblings what-so-ever. She had enough money that she could live in the better part of the District and could make the “better set of friends” her parents wanted. What was so wrong with the poorer half of the District? That question always was on her mind, seeing as she never went to explore that part.Codeword: Odair
She grew up in fear of being reaped for the games, and happily enough she was never reaped. However she always had to watch fellow District people go into the games and die trying to survive. It wasn’t right, but it’s what the Capitol wanted. So she went along with it and pretended to enjoy her life.
The family house has been there for generations, mostly owned by males from her father’s side. She’ll be the first woman to get the deed of the house. It’s kind of exciting, but her other relatives hate her for it. They don’t like to talk to her because they’re jealous of all the money she’ll be inheriting and the nice house too. Whatever; a little bit of waiting and a little bit of hate wasn’t going to keep her form giving her kids a nice life. She was, however, going to make sure to work for the money too. She wasn’t going to become that little rich spoiled girl.
As she grew up in the house she became accustomed to many things. She didn’t have to worry about where her food came from or where she was going to sleep at night. That was the problem, though; she became too accustomed. People living in the houses around her all were losing their houses and her family was having a harder time getting the money needed to pay the bills. So Jane got a job selling jewelry that the Capitol didn’t want to the people of District One. Not only that, but her family began to take in renters. They allowed people to sleep in the extra bedrooms they had for a smaller price. It gave people a home and it allowed for them to get the money necessary.
