I Don't Even Know What I Did [Faith]

The same nightmare had been tormenting Faith every time she had to rest her eyes, which now was at random times through a day on account lack of sleep had been a result of this. It was always Jack being dragged away from her, or what he must be going through in the Detention Center...being isolated in the dark, or tortured, every tiny idea brought an unpleasant shiver down her back. This time the rescuer from this scary dream was a screaming toddler desiring the young girl's attention. "It's okay Josh." Faith comforted as she picked the little man up; the son of the man she couldn't rid from her head, with the twin daughter probably in the kitchen wit her grandma. Not even her children, but still she loved them as if they were her own.

"What time is it Mrs Lexington?" Faith asked as she brought Josh into the kitchen to reunite with his twin sister Briar. She felt like crying along with him but now was no time, there was a job interview at the local school. All Faith could think about anymore was sleep, with darkness under her eyes from the inability to close her eyes after seeing Jack, seeing Jack hurt. The Lexington's were in need of money with their son gone and Faith felt obligated on account she had been with them more often then her own home, and they had been generously taking care of her.

"About half an hour until noon." Mrs Lexington answered, scooping up Josh for his feeding.

"Oh no I'm going to be late." Immediately Faith's heart began to race as she raced out the door without even a goodbye. Luckily the school was closer to the Lexington then the Campbell household and in a mater of minutes she found herself at the front entrance. "I'm so sorry if I'm late, I'm here for the teaching position." Faith explained out of breathe to the uninterested women at the front desk.

"Everyone just went on lunch, come back in an hour." She informed without even looking up to see who it was.

"Thanks." Faith said as she exited the office. As long as she had the chance for the job it didn't matter, she could easily wait an hour. On the plus side Mrs Lexington was kind enough to prepare a sandwich in case it went longer then expected. That must be what it's like to have a Mother, someone that's always thinking ahead. Faith made her way through the halls and to the courtyard, exactly where she used to go and hanging out with her small group of friends during lunch hour.

How the halls sparked up some many memories. The popular girls were never fond of Faith and her ginger-looks as they always nagged. Every free time was spent with select friends, the ones that were all nice until the popular girls influenced them over to the mean side as well. It was funny to see now all of the young girls greeting her like she was all of a sudden famous, or one of the popular girls herself. Either way a smile and hello as always was what Faith gave, not having a mean bone her body as some would say. A nice lunch under a tree sounded great, time to get her head together before the interview.

It was the perfect plan until Faith's eyes stumbled upon a girl who reminded her so much of herself. Sitting alone under a tree, wanting nothing more then to not get recognized. Wanting nothing more then for someone to learn from at that young age Faith couldn't help but feel sympathy. Walking up a bit closer the small girl also resembled something that had occurred to Faith during school ages; getting bullied mentally and physically. It looked like she couldn't wait for the day to end, to find a place to hide and protect herself since no one else will.

"Hello," Faith started off with in order to not startle the young girl. "I'm Faith." She introduced with a warm smile, something she could of used when she was young. "Are you okay?" She asked with concern at the first spot of the red bump still swelling upon the young girl's forehead, probably from a recent encounter.

To no surprise the young girl was quite shy, in a way it was cute though. What if someone like Faith introduced themselves to Faith when she was that age? There wasn't many, if any, kind faces around and it didn't seem like that has changed within the past couple of years. But then again she shouldn't just assume everything. Maybe this girl really did fall, and she was okay. It all screamed fib to Faith though, knowing she'd say the same exact thing to her Father and step-mother when returning home from school after a bad encounter with some bullies. They mainly used there words but occasionally a lot of anger built up within them and a bit of violence erupted.

Almost an 'mhm' escaped Faith's lips, but she was too kind for that so instead stayed quiet. "Mind if I join you?" Faith asked though Marissa didn't seem too anxious for company. "I'll split my sandwich with you." She offered, going through her bag and pulling out the sandwich wrapped in napkins and cut diagonally down the middle. Marissa didn't appear to have anything to eat and Faith was more then willing to share, especially if it meant possibly helping this young girl. She held out the sandwich for approval before taking a seat.

"I used to go to this school when I was younger." Faith decided to start up the conversation, she doubted a girl seeming as shy as Marissa was going to create one. She understood though. "How do you like it here?" She asked in hopes it would bring Marissa a little out of her shell.
