"You have to get out today." the new owners of the house scolded me. They treated me like a little kid even though they couldn't be more than 2 or 3 years older than me.
"I'll be out of your way by this afternoon." I replied, making sure they could sense the anger in my tone. I ran into my workshop and began to think up a plan to get the inventions out. It had to be good, this would be the last thing I would make in this shed.
I made myself a cart of sorts. I was proud of it too. I wasn't known for making anything big, and this thing was huge. It held every invention and work in progress I own. A temporary thing, till I get a new place to live. It was going to have my dog pull it, but he wasn't strong enough. Now it gets pulled by my bike. It's a little small since it was from when I was six, but it's the best thing I could find. I was a little low on other materials as well. Half of it is wood, the other part metal. But it was the best I could do for the time.
I pedaled out into town. I moved pretty slow, mostly for the fact I was pulling 100 pounds behind me. Also, it might be because I haven't worked out lately, or ever. I realized I looked silly, so the laughter all around me wasn't necessary. I stopped the bike to rest for a second, pulling my hair out of my face.
"Really people?" I shouted. "Do you seriously think this is funny?" I started to pedal again. It took a few seconds to realize I wasn't going anywhere. I looked down at the wheels, assuming I got a flat. There a saw a small shard of broken glass jabbed into one of the deflated back tire. One shard of glass, keeping the bike from moving forward.
It was sad how much I realized that it was not only the glass that kept me from getting where I wanted to go. I tried to convince myself it was the people standing around me, they just didn't understand who I was. Deep inside I new it was the inventions. The gadgets that got me my name. The gadgets that caused the people to hate me. Well, they didn't hate me. They just didn't appreciate what I was doing. It was understandable why. This cart is the only thing I made that really works.
