Chase your dreams
But always know the road
That'll lead you home again.
Go on take on this whole world,
But to me, you know you'll always be,
My little girl.
Waking came easily for me, much easier than sleep did. The sunlight would trickle in through my window, and as if on cue, I would open my eyes and roll from bed. Today was much the same, as I pulled on a pair of jeans and a plain blue shirt. Nothing fancy for me, although sometimes I wished I had pretty dresses like some of the richer girls. There was more to life, though, and I had come to accept the way my life was. Including the fact that the best thing to do each morning was leave as soon as I woke. I would head outside, and let the sun warm my skin. Eventually I would have to come back or Cachi would worry, but I needed this time to myself every morning or I would go insane. Chances were I'd be back before Leita woke up and asked for breakfast, and that was what really mattered.
Outside was where I really felt free. Typically on my morning adventures, I went barefoot, and this morning was no exception. Shoes were just another thing that felt like it was trapping me, and I usually felt penned in enough. The grass under my feet was a welcome sensation, just like the wind in my hair and the sun on my skin. These were the things that I would always associate with home, the things that made me a District Ten citizen. I began to run as soon as I was outside, delighting in the motion as I sprinted across the fields. I can hear the cows in the distance, but they aren't my destination. Honestly I never have a destination on these morning excursions, but it's nice to get out and stretch my legs. I rarely go off our own property, but we have enough land what with our dairy farm.
I come to a stop under a tree, plopping down. It's near the edge of our property, closest to our neighbor's. I'm sweating a little, which isn't exactly the most ladylike way to be, but I don't really expect anyone to come up to chat anyway. 'Course, that's always when people do turn up, ready to talk your ear off. Right when you don't want 'em around. As I leaned my head back against the tree, that's exactly what happened. I opened my eyes once more, peering up at the figure.
"Hello?"
