Appearance:
Even for a sixteen year old boy, Jenick is a small boy, coming in at 5'2, smaller than many girls his age. He weighs what he should for a boy of his size, 122 lbs. (BMI 22.3,) being a slim guy who relies more on his speed than his strength. Jenick has striking green eyes the color of moss, and short, curly, messy chestnut brown hair. His skin is pallid, as if it does not often see the sun, Jenick spending most of his life beneath the sheltered canopy of the marsh he lives in, and his nose is sharp and pointed. In laymen's terms, he looks like a bog devil, but Jenick is still very much a boy.Personality:
Jenick is a good enough looking lad, but it cannot be said that he is really a "handsome" looking boy. He has a tall forehead and a cutoff hairline with no widow's peak which has clumps of pointed hair falling down over it. He typically sports well used leather padding and earthen colored clothes, greens and browns and pale yellows, covered by a light green cloak with a hood that completely obscures his face when down. He has a pointed chin and dexterous fingers, and moves about with swift, energetic, and economical motions. His eyes are sharp and seems to catch everything that is going on, and there mossy green glow tend to make people think there is something unnatural about them.
Jenick is quiet and conserved, and rarely speaks, especially when has nothing to say. He often finds that silence yields more than talk ever could. His motions are swift, but his movements are never wasted. He is taciturn and intelligent, but not the kind of person people are drawn to. In fact, Jenick is the kind of person people simply don't care or want to notice, and Jenick himself does his best to keep things this way.History:
Jenick seems to many to be the "strong, silent type," and for the most part that's true. Although not physically powerful, Jenick has a force of will to be reckoned with, and rarely if ever acts on impulse. Nor is he frightened by many things. Indeed, Jenick seems to be downright imperturbable, and his stony, distant expression hardly ever betrays any kind of emotion. He is cold, quiet, enigmatic, and simply does not wish to be seen or be at the center of anyone's attention.
Preferring to lead his life mostly in solitude, Jenick is not particularly opposed to company most of the time, he simply does not wish for it to become a regular occurrence. He has no close friends, and he often disappears into the swampy wilderness of his home simply to be alone. Being alone with his thoughts and observations are the only time Jenick ever feels at piece and, for some strange reason, not particularly on edge. He even prefers to have limited contact with his own family, even though he is as close to them as Jenick can conceivably be to other people. It would seem that Jenick is as much a mystery to himself as to anyone else.
Born amidst the strange, swamp dwelling people Jenick calls his family and neighbors, the boy has always lived a life of relative isolation. While the great forests and habitats of District Nine were closed off long ago, the marshland people were allowed to keep their homes in the boggy swamps of the district as custodians of sorts, making sure the district's waterways held up and all the while earning there living off of one of the only relatively unpolluted places in District Nine. While many people would find living in smog and rampant pollution preferable to living their lives the mosquito infested bogs of the district, the people who actually live there find there choice a much easier one to live with. Most people in the swamps of District Nine live in small communities scattered about the rather large marshlands that remain as the only real remnant of of the district's former industry. While the marsh men ostensibly act as utility workers who keep much of the power and water supplies of the district going, it is not an occupation that pays well, and the marsh men instead tend to make their living through frogging and various other means of obtaining food in their own environmental niche.Codeword: Odair
Jenick has two loving and caring parents, and talkative and friendly older sister, and a somber and solemn younger brother to call family. Jenick himself is not quite so easily categorized, but then again, who really is? His relationship with his family is close (as close to a relationship as Jenick seems willing to obtain,) and among his piers he is generally respected, if not very approachable. Most of his fellow swamp dwellers generally just assume that Jenick knows most of what's going on at any given time, but simply does not feel the need to say anything about it. His fellows respect his presence and sagely manner, even if none of them particularly know him that well.
Day to day life for Jenick and his family consists mostly of wondering around the marshlands they live in quietly, spearing and catching and shooting any food they find along the way, while keeping to their more official duties of making sure no logs or the odd body are blocking up the marsh's various small wooden bridges, fords, dams, and weirs. Their job is an important but boring one, and they are for the most part ignored or in large part just forgotten about among the rest of the district, who know better to try and venture into the dangerous swamps they have no knowledge of (most of the time at least, as occasionally bodies do pop up here and there.) Bodies are often sent to the district for burial or cremation, while unclaimed bodies are usually given to the government, which usually uses them to make such products as soap. This is the life Jenick and his similar looking, chestnut brown haired siblings lead, following their red headed father through the various peats, fens, and mires that have always been home to their small family. And if there is relative peace to be found anyone in Panem, the foreboding, unapproachable marshes of District Nine seem to be, ironically, one of the happier places to live, provided of course you know how to make your way in, and more importantly, out...
