Appearance:
At 5' 3", 115 pounds, Rarin's below the rest of his class and pretty much everbody else he's seen in height, but he makes up for it with a good amount of muscle and stamina. He's scrawny-ish, but the muscle shows through, building up by the pound with all the wrestling around and running he does.Personality:
He took after is mother as far as looks, not hard to look at with well-defined, sharp features, green eyes and short blonde hair always styled in some way or another. His small hands are calloused from hard work with heavy tools, though his skin is still an almost ashen pale colour.
Rarin is the one to yell "That's what she said!" At the principal any time the opportunity arrives. He's pretty much born into the wrong world when it comes to his mood. He's optimisticHistory:(almost)all the time, but usually not without reason, despite the fact that that reason is often a 2% chance. It's as if he tries to be different, standing out amongst the crowd almost purposely, often looking weird, but in the end changing everybody's mind about him. He'll keep his emotions to himself in most cases, (besides happiness, of course) though when he feels the need is present he'll show some signs of whatever he's really thinking.
He's athletic, despite his size, best with things like sprints and hand-to-hand combat, wrestling (and winning) against his much larger friends. If he is bested by someone, he practices and practices for hours on end, every day, until he's the best. He'll be competitive, no matter how pointless, until he's better than you in every way, but he won't brag unless you challenge him. Rarin is also somewhat unintelligent, which may be part of the cause for his pointless competitions, but he's still gotten by in school.
Rarin won't insult you, even if you're the one ugly kid that nobody likes, or the chubby weirdo that threatened to eat another kid. He'll be kind to you, even though he'll still agree with anybody that says "He's fat," or "She's ugly" behind the person's back, so as to not lose friends, but otherwise he's trustworthy enough for living in one of the semi-poor districts. He's not going to stab you in the back intentionally, unless it's absolutely necessary, and he'll trust in moderation, picking and choosing, as he's seen backstabbers before.
Rarin was born during the 50th Hunger Games, having turned fourteen recently. He spent his early years wrestling around with neighboring children, his father providing well enough for him to grow into adolescence. School was awkward and boring for him during his first few years, but after he started showing his spontaneous, optimistic side to everybody, he became well liked all throughout the school, making his childhood a much more positive experience. Rarin is an only child, so he spent more time with other children than with his parents.Codeword: oDair
At age ten, Rarin's father began training him to take his place as a mechanic for the machinery used in the grain processing plants. He's worked with heavy tools and machinery, forming callouses on his nimble fingers. His father's job brought in a decent amount of money; he was usually got enough to eat and his clothes weren't torn and threadbare, but his mother ended up giving up a lot of her meals to Rarin just to make sure he didn't go hungry.
Fairly recently, Rarin's mother became gravely ill, due to the pollution from the factories and her giving up her meals to her son. They can't afford medicine, or for a doctor to see her, and she may remain weakened even if her illness passes. Because of this, he's become more independent, coming home to an empty house and making his own meals, as well as having to haggle with traders, which has been good for him in the long run, though his mother may not survive.
