I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything
You held me down, but I got up
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
Opal Shore was going home, it was the first time she had seen the district since she had been reaped. That had been her last and final experience within her home. It was always painful to remember just how cruel her last few minutes in her home had been. They had not been filled with the love, hugs and admiration that most probably would have had. There had been no kind words, no tears and no pats on the back. All she had received was her cold-hearted bitch of a sister, whom had screamed her lungs out at the teary eyes girl, before stepping forwards, gripping her hair and yelling into her ear. Reminding her, like a promise, that she would always be a pathetic no one. That had hurt to no end; it had been followed by screaming and profanities that she had never before spoken. There had been name calling and sobbing and streaming tears. And no one else had come to see her. Not her brothers or sisters, not even her parents. Yet, even the lack of a goodbye had not hurt as much as what Pyrite Shore had said to her. Opal had grown up believing she was the useless one, the one more suited to gardens and reams then fighting and killing. Everyone in her family had been better than her, all of them had had more power, cunning and skill then she could ever dream of having. It had been foolish for her to even believe she could make it out of this situation she faced, especially when Emerald Shore was incapable of doing it.
Pyrite had been right, but it had stung hearing them in the tense air between them, when the ideas were simply floating in her head she could pretend that they weren’t true and that they were simply ideas warped and created by her own mind. But once they were thrown into the open there was no way to push them away and tell everyone that it was not true. The memories were not as fresh on her mind as they had once been. The lingering thoughts of the arena played across her mind like a continuous tape. They slipped past her eyes every now and then, and when she slept they appeared. Although, to her own surprise, she was not having as many nightmares as she had ever thought she would have. There had been perhaps one every two days. And that, compared to what she had heard was almost an incredible thing and according to her stylist, time would diminish the pain, therefore decreasing the amount of nightmares she was going to have.
Her steps seemed almost shaky as she walked through the empty streets of district one. She’d been home for not even a few hours and after what had seemed like days Opal had finally managed to escape the crowds that had greeted her arrival. Now she was heading to her house, to one of the only Shore’s that had not been there welcome her home. That had hardly surprised her, in fact it would have surprised her to no end seeing Pyrite Shore waiting at the front of the Justice Building. Opal was almost glad she had not turned up; it meant that there first meeting after their last one could be done in private. And Opal was dying to get revenge for what Pyrite had done to her. Hell the notion of punching Pyrite in the face had been one of the driving forces to lead her home. Opal halted, breathing even as she raised one hand and placed it against the oak door in front of her. Her eyes flickered briefly to the left and towards her garden, her chest ached and burned as she was hit with the sight of destroyed flowers, trampled plants and dead leaves. Biting her lip she forced herself to not go running to her babies, and instead she turned her eyes to the door, her face morphing into a cold glare. There was only one person who could have done that. With more anger behind the movement then she had intended she knocked on the door. You held me down, but I got up
Get ready cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
