The burning mist...
I step out the door of my home, adjusting my coat as I flip the cuffs up like I always do and stuff my hands into the coat pockets. I look down as I mentally review the two things I should normally have in my possession; my chain and my coat. This is one of the few days I get a break from work, so I'm not risking the chance of having any time wasted. I will savor today
I begin to walk as I breathe, the cold air creating a bit of fog as I breathe out my nose. I can't help but feel like a bull of sorts when I do this and I repeatedly do so until I bump into a fence. Whoops. I look around to see if anyone noticed -which thankfully is true, nobody noticed- and I just turn the corner leading to the neighborhood forest. I expect to see some faces as I approach the first row of trees, I live close to a forest thankfully so I don't have to walk miles in order to get to my destination.
I reach the forest and walk past a good amount of trees until I stop and look up. Apparently there has been someone clawing at the tree recently, sap is emerging from the claw marks. I need to stay alert, it appears that something is loose.
I sit down and lean against the tree as I pull out my notebook and draw. I don't know what I'm drawing but it's something. I keep at it, waiting for the first face to come by eventually but it then begins to feel like I'm getting my hopes up. Guess heading out was a waste of time in itself after all..
I stop drawing to rest my neck that's been bent to be able to carefully observe the details of my cartoon-like doodle as I breathe out, fog forming at the base of my mouth yet again. I chuckle as I sigh.
