There's no surprise in Faith's face when Jack claims he thinks he can't be fixed. Who wouldn't after everything he's been through? "You've only been back for a day." Faith couldn't help but protest very calmly. She didn't want to upset Jack anymore, but she also wouldn't agree that he was incapable of being fixed. Anyone could get fixed with the right loved ones and thoughts. "Let's at least try." She attempts to convince, avoiding pushing the subject. She was determined to stay on this side, the side where Jack was willing to open the bathroom door.
A small giggle escapes when Jack questions why Faith is so strong. Her entire life she felt the opposite of strong. After all Jack was the one that picked glass from her knees when they first met. When her Father set her up with Thomas Jack was the one to fight him to show him to respect woman. If anything Jack was the strong one, while Faith played the nurturer. But right now it at least appears that the tables have turned. Jack feels weak and Faith is attempting to keep everything together for the family. That's all simply out of love though, she realized she was forcing herself to be strong. Or maybe all along she really was strong.
She shrugged as she considered the answer. "I wasn't until yesterday." Faith admitted, because before Jack came back she was miserable. Waking up resulted from some form of nightmare relating to Jack, and she was constantly crying. Sure she cared for the twins while his parents worked, helped around the house often, but that was it. When Jack came back, especially in his condition, Faith knew she had to take charge in some way. He was alive and struggling so that was her time to be strong. "But I do it for love." She continued collecting the remaining clothing, noting she should probably do laundry to surprise Mrs. Lexington before she returns home.
The memories Jack shares about the DC brings chills down her back. It sounds worse then the Hunger Games for the exception there might be a better chance of returning from the DC. As little as Faith knew though. Maybe Jack was simply lucky. No he was very lucky. The thought of what he could of gone through scared Faith, even with his basic description. Just the sounds and how it was like to sleep. Completely leaving out the torture he must of gone through. In a way she didn't want to hear, but she wasn't sure if there was someone else to listen. And she wanted to understand.
Tears threaten to form when Faith realized Jack had mentioned it was her face that had helped him in there. Even a droplet fell down her cheek that she could be of that much use. She placed the last article of clothing into the basket and returned to Jack. "Of course not." Faith toke his hands into her tiny ones as she reassured that there was no way she could let his family down. His family probably loved her more then her own. She'd protect them with all of her heart. Once again she brought her lips to Jack's for a precious moment to back up all of her words. "Like I said, I'll always be here...for all of you crazy Lexingtons."
"How about we get you back into bed?" Faith offered unable to keep her eyes off of Jack's eyes. "I'll check on your wound and give you a new bandage." She finally got up, able to stretch her legs finally, and extending her hand to help Jack.
