Faith Campbell
District Ten
Age Twenty
It's almost been half a year now and the event still rings through Faith's ears, plays like a movie whenever she closes her eyes, haunts her dreams yet is the only thing that still keeps her happy. Well that and the twins that showered her with love even on the worst of days. Everything that brought a smile to Faith's face also brought tears to her eyes, she had been learning how to control it now a days though. She was now needed and wanted more then ever in her life, even in her most depressed state, probably because Mr. & Mrs. Lexington were also going through a rough time. The babies still smiled and played, but whenever they cried it was more difficult then ever to settle them down, and usually that gets easier over time. It hasn't.
"I love you." Once again woke Faith up with a gasp, that and baby Briar crying. All she wanted to do was curl back up and replay the nightmare over again and again, how ironic her life has become. Still both of the Lexingtons were out at work, and someone needed to care for the toddlers. Faith had been spending all of her days here helping out as much as she could, even the majority of her nights, which she actually preferred. "What's wrong baby girl?" Faith asked, bring a fake smile to her face. Eventually the smile would at least begin to feel real.
The clock told that it was 2 O'clock, an hour past when Faith or Mrs. Lexington would prepare lunch. Immediately it made she could put two and two together, one of them would always cry whenever a meal was late. "I'm sorry sweety." Faith apologized as she reached for Josh to juggle them both into the kitchen. They were both pretty big by now, but it seemed that Faith's arms grew with the twins.
Usually the reoccurring dream lasts longer, at least it did when the event actually happened. It must of been hours that Faith stayed on the side of the road, waiting for Jack to come walking back. Not until Mrs. Lexington convinced her to come inside did Faith budge. Slowly but surely she broke out of the trance.
Lunch was never very much on account Faith always wanted to save as much food as possible to dinner, knowing the Mrs. Lexington enjoyed cooking. Simple toast and some fruits was the common lunch for the twins, with a special slice of meat for today. The bread slowly crisped in the oven while Faith cut up some fruits into toddler bite sizes, doing her best to also make sure the twins didn't get into any trouble.
