Age: 14
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 11
Appearance:
Misty has long brown hair down to just above halfway down her back, though it's hard to be sure. She has emerald green eyes that are usually to be found scanning across wherever she is, usually in the orchards, taking in her surroundings. She is just as skinny as all the other kids in her district, her tummy sucked in, her arms bony, her legs bony, everything bony. She never really grew much as a child, so until she grew a little when she was thirteen, she remained looking like a seven year old. But at thirteen, she grew up a bit, and now she still looks twelve, but she looks just a bit older than before.Personality:
Every day, when she wakes up, she goes to the small wooden box that is her wardrobe, with a small pile of clothing that is her selection for the day. Unlike in the Capitol, where some need more than five wardrobes to store all their clothes in, she has this simple small box, although her older sister Margaret has a bigger one to fit all her clothes. But they filter the clothes too small for Margaret and hand them down to Misty. She has mostly Margaret's old reaping dresses. It was customary for her family to change the dresses for the reaping every year, even if it meant their mother would be up all night sewing. She often wore the old dresses from previous years because she hated to see her mother's specially designed dresses go to waste.
Misty is a bright, happy girl, who doesn't let famine and poverty get her down. Every day, when she goes down to the orchards for another shift, she maintains her happy-go-lucky personality. During harvest she always climbs the trees to get right up to the beautiful, ripe fruit and wishes that she could just sink her teeth into them herself, because she knows the Capitol will probably waste some of it. With all their delicious, mouth-watering meals, what would a bowl of strawberries mean to them? The plums that she worked so hard to pick as daintily as possible and pop in her straw basket she carried round the orchards? These are the questions Misty Callagher wants answered, but for some reason, nobody has the answers to them themselves.History: Codeword: oDair
When she's around her friends, it's really hard to believe that Misty lives in poverty in an old run-down cottage with just her mother and her older sister (her father once dared to enter the forest to feed them with some meat and was killed by tracker jackers) because she is so happy and delightful. However, under that mask of happiness is a wreck. Misty lives in constant fear of the wasps that took down her father and squeals whenever she hears the buzz of electricity at the fence. However, District 11 is big, so she's managed to stay out of its way. She works at picking fruit from the trees every day after school.
She's quite studious, always interested in knowing what happened, but is severely dyslexic, and has problems reading and writing, which proves simple to some other people in her class. She tries to keep up with the others but it's really hard when the words just get jumbled up in her mind. She tries to hire special tutors but they cost far too much, so her mother has taken to teaching her as much as possible at home, adding onto her already heavy workload.
