A P P E A R A N C E:
This guy is the classic tall, dark, and handsome. He stands at 6’1”, and has a nice athletic build. He doesn’t do anything toward the way of exercising; he just has one of those metabolisms that run at a faster pace than the average person’s, the lucky bastard. He isn’t sculpted, or anything, just skinny. He has a nice, thick head of brown hair that is almost the same exact color of his eyes. He doesn’t particularly like shaving, so he skips a few days most of the time, leaving him looking scruffy.
Dar likes looking classy. He wears dress pants, and black shiny shoes. His shirts are always collared and pressed just right, underneath his suspenders. However, he doesn’t like looking to stuffy, so he goes for the ‘casual’ fancy look. No ties, or spiffy coats. He leaves the first buttons on his shirts unfasted, and he’ll even roll up his sleeves on occasion.
'Cause they'd fill the open air
And leave teardrops everywhere
You'd think me rude
But I would just stand and stare
And leave teardrops everywhere
You'd think me rude
But I would just stand and stare

D’Artagnan is a tolerant, easygoing guy that takes whatever the world throws at him with a patient smile, as if it were just a toddler throwing a tantrum to get attention. “See here, life,” He seems to say, “I refuse to be intimidated by your flashy actions.” He isn’t fazed by much, and doesn’t let things get to him. He is rather genteel. His words are well thought out and articulated, his mannerisms are not overly flamboyant, but are still very expressive. He likes to use his hands a lot to illustrate what he is saying.
Dar is a very passionate person; mostly when it comes to bugs. He can enthuse about the six-legged freaks for hours to any willing, or unwilling person. He goes through great pains to make sure his bug collection is neat, organized, and well displayed for anybody who comes over to his house. He spends huge amounts of time and resources bringing in new specimens and even more time studying them, both alive and when they are dead.
He is also passionate about teaching, and sculpting the young minds of the future. He loves his students even more then he loves his bugs, which is saying something. He is just an assistant to the biology professor at Pacific Academy for Boys, but he puts a lot of time and effort into thinking up ways to make learning easier and more fun for his students. He comes up with the lesson plan, and takes the time to write notes on the margins of a student’s paper to give them encouragement, or to tell them exactly what they did wrong. The Professor should be doing all this, but he is an old crackpot, so D’Artagnan pretty much runs the class, while the Professor sits on his ass and gets paid the high salary.
D’Artagnan has good sense of humor, and often times spends a few minutes each class just joking around with the students. He likes to be the ‘cool’ teacher; the one that the students all love. However, he gets pretty strict when it comes to doing work, and following the Academy rules. He won’t have any qualms about handing out detention slips for unruly behavior.
When it comes to talking about himself, D’Artagnan is pretty tight lipped. He will talk for hours about his bugs, or his research, or anything really, but he will not talk about his personal life. There isn’t really a reason why, it’s not like he comes from a terrible family or something, he’d just rather not talk himself.
The only time when D'Artagnan isn't articulate, and calm is when he is around women. Women make him unbelievably nervous. He gets all sweaty, and his hands shake, and he stutters. He can't think straight around them, and not because he finds them attractive. They just freak him out.
'Cause I'd get a thousand hugs
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance
D’Artagnan is an only child. After his mother got sick and died shortly after he was born, Dar’s father never remarried. Instead of the soft comfort of a mother’s touch, Dar had nothing but the cold demands of a father. He was disciplined from an early age, and was taught that copious amount of energy and unruly behavior would lead to beatings and other such punishments. He learned quickly to stay out of his father’s way and to only be playful and loud outside, far away.
D’Artagnan’s father, Maximus, was a scientist. A cold, calculating man that helped splice the genes of animals to create mut.tations. He was a very hardworking man, with little to no time to look after his son. Maximus would bring Dar to work with him, and let the little boy run amongst the cages of the experimental mutts. Dar was always attracted to the mutts that where some part insect. It was in those stainless steel aisles where D’Artagnan discovered his love for bugs.
D’Artagnan wanted to be just like his father. He admired his acumen, and loved to sit by his desk and watch Max work on various things. When he was old enough, he was sent to a private co-ed science school. Even though many gifted kids attended with him, he was considered a freak. Dar was too interested in science, too interested in bugs. He was smarter than the other kids his age, and didn't find the same things fun as they did. He had a few friends, but he preferred to be alone.
Around the age of 12 he developed a crush on a girl. He showed her one of his favorite bug collections, thinking that she would be as interested as he was. She was not. She screamed, and was terribly disturbed but what she thought was a gruesome display of glittering shiny bodies. She told to her friends, thinking it was a cruel joke. The girls banded together and spent the rest of the year humiliating Dar in many different ways, again and again. That was when he decided that women were scary, and he'd just stick with his bugs.
For high school, his father sent him to a prestigious all boys school. Without girls making fun of him, he excelled in his studies. Even graduating the top of his class. He moved onto a small private college to study Entomology. Afterwards, he thought about getting a job with his father, but decided he wanted to teach. He returned to his high school and talk to the principal. The principal remembered D’Artagnan and his achievements, and since he was a friend of his father’s granted him a job as an assistant for the biology teacher so he could gain experience.
To ten million fireflies
I'm weird 'cause I hate goodbyes
I got misty eyes as they said farewell
I'm weird 'cause I hate goodbyes
I got misty eyes as they said farewell
odair
But I'll know where several are
If my dreams get real bizarre
'Cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar
If my dreams get real bizarre
'Cause I saved a few and I keep them in a jar
