I don't know what made me do it but as soon as I took all of Darren's stuff I took off running, I wanted to get away from my handiwork, his crimsoned body was just... there, mutilated, cuts, gashes and a missing leg, and the thing that makes it more sick is that I did most of that, I caused most of the pain. After fixing up my battle wounds I started running, I'm not a fast runner but I ran as fast as my little legs could take me, my teeny hands dragging my longsword and big purse behind me, it is slowly being lined with more and more spoils from my kills. It's honestly really surprising, I killed two careers, two kids who were more prepared for me, more physically gifted than me, on paper I should've died in the bloodbath. But I didn't, that must mean something.

After collecting District one's bracelet (I still can't remember his name) I swore that I'd try and win; not for me however, this was about so much more than me. I killed those two people, I killed them, they died so I could live on, they died because of me. I can't let their deaths be for nothing, after all since I killed them it would be disrespectful, no insulting if I were to just let myself die, so the twig warrior must fight on, the twig warrior must fight on to honor the dead! My running slows down and I stop, I didn't run all that far, I turn around to see the hovercraft lifting District one's bloodied corpse into the sky, never to be seen again. I then drop my stuff and start coughing, gasping for air, coughing and coughing on my hands and knees, I'm out of breath, I've been exerting my self, carrying around all this weight and running around killing people.

It's just silent, besides the sounds of my footsteps and grunts it's all silent, why is it so silent? Because I just killed the one tribute I had any chance of interacting with.

But I still gotta work, the twig warrior shows no weakness, he shows no decline! The twig warrior does not give up! I groan as I get up off my knees, pick up my stuff and continue lugging it around.

It's kind of funny, it's almost as if I've become a different person. Mantel Scoff from district ten was a weakling, he was bullied, people walked all over him and treated him like dirt, they treated me like nothing but garbage and I hated it. Mantel Scoff was a coward, Mantel Scoff would never have been capable of this. Mantel Scoff has no resolve. But then there's the Twig Warrior, a fighter until the end, a fighter with nothing but a longsword and his twiggy arms to wield them, the Twig Warrior killed two careers with his blade and is still going strong, the Twig Warrior has resolve. And right now the Twig Warrior is going to need all that resolve and determination to get through this.

I know what I need, I take drop my long sword and decide to take out an axe, just like those guys you see from District seven, roaming the arena with intimidating axes, ready to hack down anyone and anything they need. I go to the lower branches and start hacking at them, groaning and grunting.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

A branch falls to the ground with a thud and I move onto the next one.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

More and more branches fall the ground over time, my brittle arms straining and creaking as I hack down more and more branches. I'm surprised I can lift this over sized axe, I swear all the weapons I've seen are several sizes too big for most of the tributes in this arena! Everything in this arena is too big for the tributes, this isn't a children's playground game. When I'm sure I have enough firewood I stuff that in my ever bigger growing bag and sling it over my shoulder. I feel my bones creak slightly and I drop the bag instantly. I guess I should rest here for a little while. I think to myself, after all even warrior's need to rest. I drop my bag, sit on the ground and lean my back against an over sized tree.

"I'm gonna need that firewood."
