So the point of school was exactly what? Because everyday the most difficult decision for Cameo was whether or not to turn left or right. Right went to the school; where they warehouse hormonal teenagers for eight hours, not to mention how well everyone gets along. To the left was the open forest, where peace can be found. The only place in the District where peace can be found. But her foster parents were beginning to rag on her for all of the ditching, and the guys were even worse then the bullies at school. So for once Cameo actually turned right, regretting it every step of the way, but not looking back.

School was the worst place in the district though, the one place that Cameo couldn't simply run from her problems, and got into trouble when fighting. It sucked. Every corner was another disgusting looking, and/or rude insult. She always tries to put her head down and ignore it, but more often then not she just can't control where her fists go...or slam into. Today she swore to stay on her best behavior though, actually attempt to keep away from trouble. Let's see how long that'll last.

Before the first bell even rings an insult comes from behind, another stupid title of Dyke. Keep moving, stay away from drama she had to remind herself. "How original." She shoots sarcasm over her shoulder as she keeps trekking forward. But she was completely distracted from what was in front of her for just a moment, and a second too long because she runs right into someone walking the opposite direction. Of course 5'1, scrawny Cameo gets pushed on her ass due to clumsiness and lack of concentration.

Laughter from the group of kids attempting to insult her before fills the hallway. Cameo narrows her eyes in disappointment as she scrambles to pick all of her things up. "Damn it." She mumbles, not bothering to look up at who ever she ran into.

((OOC: Sorry this is a typical way of starting off a thread, but I wasn't sure what to do. Let me know if you have a better idea and I'll change this post around.))

The world is a typical place really. It walks around the hallways of life wanting to be noticed and understood. But nobody, neither the world itself or anyone in it, is ever truly, understood. I am not understood, but I don’t really want to be. If I ever do try to explain myself to anyone, it always ends up backfiring into my face, badly. So you stop trying right? Right.

If I was to pass through the empty halls of this school I would feel more companionship than I felt now. Now, everyone had somewhere to be and someone to talk to, and I was not that person. Not for anyone. I wouldn’t say I was friendless, but really, I kind of was. I knew people yeah, but I never made any attempt to talk to or maintain a friendship. Too much work if you ask me.

So as I wandered the halls filled with others caring for each other, I paid no attention to the girl that I bumped into. I wasn’t really in the mood to talk (not like I ever was) but I paused for a moment to see what her reaction was. Not much, books scattered on the floor were more of her importance than I was. Understandable. I didn’t know why I was still standing there or why I really cared for that matter. I was spending those few moments of utter awkwardness trying to decide whether or not to help or just be snarky.

Snarky. Always snarky.

“You should probably, I don’t know, watch where you’re going.” I watched as she was still more absorbed in her books, and honestly I was a little annoyed. This was one of those rare instances that I wanted attention, and I wanted it now.[/justify][/blockquote][/size]

Coming across someone rude was certainly very common for Cameo, it seemed as if everyone had a personal grudge against her. Not that she could blame them, she disliked them just as much. But it was especially annoying to get disrespected in front of a group, is if her presence wasn't enough. Usually she would just throw a punch to prove her place, and it often worked to get herself ignored all day. She liked being ignored. Lately though whenever Cameo ends up starting a fight she gets her ass jumped by at least two careers.

"You should probably, I don't know, watch where you're going." Interrupts the laughter from the ignorant teens enjoying the run-in and fall. Only for a moment though because then they begin to laugh even harder, with what they probably heard it as an insult. To Cameo it was simply another stupid kid. She looked up to see tall, well-built guy, a perfect example of the look of a career. And with all of the kids enjoying his joke they could easily all gang up on Cameo. As much as she hated it she had to avoid starting a fight over this.

All of the few school supplies were back in her beg, and in a second Cameo was back upon her feet. "My bad, with how scrawny you are I hardly saw you." Cameo returns the favor of being rude, it was her best case given her own size, but she knew it was more of a sensitive topic for the male population. A sarcastic grin forms on her lips, to indicate that she was not at all threatened. "I'm surprised you didn't fall on your ass as well."

I couldn’t help but smile at the girl’s words, not so much because I liked them, but because obviously she didn’t take comments lightly. Wait I’m not scrawny. What is that supposed to mean? A look of confusion spread upon my face, an attempt to decipher her words pulsing through my brain. “Uh, last time I checked, I wasn’t scrawny, but I must agree with you a little bit. I’m surprised I didn’t fall as well.” I wouldn’t smile anymore at this girl, I wouldn’t give—no I couldn’t give her the satisfaction that she had made me think. I did what I wanted, and I wouldn’t let some girl that was obviously incapable of staying on her own two feet get in the way of that.

I wouldn’t say I’m rebellious, but I don’t exactly like taking direction. Not from anyone really, so if I don’t really listen to you, don’t take it personal, I pay everyone the same reaction. If I am to grow up and move on in this world, I can’t be letting other go and push me around now can I? I have to make my own decisions, no matter how much it affects someone else, and that is exactly what I plan on doing. I plan on somehow taking the world by storm, but there happens to be one problem; I have nothing interesting or wanted to set me apart from everyone else. I’m not brilliant, I’m not super athletic, and I’m just not particularly unique.

For some reason, a tidal wave of blue moon niceness spread throughout my body, and I offered my rough, well-worn hand to the girl on the ground. No one better get used to this, as it won’t be happening again for the next three years. I narrowed my eyes in the anticipation of seeing what she would do. “Look, I don’t have all day, so if you want help getting yourself together, you accept it now.”

Besides the masculine appearance, the one way to pick Cameo out of the crowd blindfolded, would be her slick tongue. Sarcasm consumed every other sentence of hers since the age of four. Foster moms love to gossip, and sarcasm along with being a potty mouth, is what they're famous for. Lacking a social bone in her body, ease dropping was what Cameo became famous for...well could of been. With her tiny disposition no one even noticed she was ever there. Either way sarcasm and cursing was what she grew up on. This boy on the other hand didn't understand sarcasm clearly.

Cameo laughed a bit as he explained that he wasn't scrawny, especially when he added he was also surprised he didn't fall. That was certainly unexpected. The part that he didn't get was the fact that Cameo was the scrawny one while he held a decent build. "Right." More sarcasm for a reply from Cameo. She looked up at him baffled. At first he seemed like a jerk career, and then suddenly he switches. Was this a set up? Cation mode turned on in Cameo's brain.

What really catches Cameo off guard is when the guy then offers her a hand, to help her get up. Her eyes narrow in suspicion, but she still takes the helping hand. Just a year ago she could careless about being rude to people, with a craving to start a fight. Lately though she's learned to be more cautious with recent bad encounters. "Thanks." She mumbles, pulling her messenger bag strap over her shoulder.

"But I think it may be you that needs help pulling yourself together." And her younger self comes back out, unable to avoid getting herself into trouble. "Your seeming a little bi-polar my friend." She shrugs, and a cocky grin spreads to her face.

“Oh sweetheart, you have no idea how much help I need.” The words were mocking and dripping with annoyance, but they were indeed sincere. I am a dysfunctional mess, one part terrified and three parts sarcastic. If that’s not something that needs help, I don’t know what is. I am the shell of a person falling apart, trying desperately to fix myself by sticking together the jagged edges of my heart. There is no one to care for me, no one to help me slowly piece myself together. I am going off of what I know to be right, and to be honest, it is most likely the furthest thing from right there is. But I am stubborn, I am selfish, and I will not listen to anyone but myself.

I have spent often dusks and dawns sitting on the dock closest to my father’s boat, wondering what it would be like to jump into the water and not fight. The water at this time of year would be icy enough, and the numbness would be welcome, overcoming my sense of fear and dragging me under. I had thought about that a lot lately, especially the last few nights, where I had dared myself, screamed at myself to do it, to throw myself over the edge. But then I would stick a toe or a finger into the dark water and pull back, the cold more shocking than numbing, and I would leave. I would leave because I was mad at myself for being weak, for not being able to commit to anything, even my own death.

Now was not the time to think about this, as I am faced with the immediate problem of the storm I have formed in front of me. I have no desire to know this girl, no want to find out about some tragic backstory that couldn’t matter less to me. There isn’t much that draws my attention, not anymore, and she was definitely not one of the few things that did. The ocean, the sun rising into the sky, the list goes on and on, they did not pull attention from the straight line I seemed to be stuck on. It was a never ending march towards a gravestone which would most likely read “taken by a hand that could only be his own.”

I looked back to the girl, my eyes as dead as I felt, and I wanted to say something smart and wise, but I am neither of those things. I am foolish and youthful, stupid and selfish, and I should be without a care in the world. That plan has backfired, because now all I am is burdened with a load that can only be dumped into the ocean. I looked at her again, no words coming to my moth anymore as I turned away slightly, hoping that she might back off. I am a firecracker slowly burning towards an explosion of a great caliber.
