--Now and again when I look at myself--
--And I don't know quite what to say--
--Once I decide that I like what I find--
--In an instant, now comes a time for a change--
It was another morning out in the woodlands. I could tell instantly because when I was stirring awake there was obviously no comfortable bed underneath me. Instead there was grass which was much less soft out in the woods than many would imagine. It wasn't as bad as when I had first run away though since I had managed to get myself a sleeping bag that gave me some comfort at least as well as the warmth it provided on cold nights. The material was nowhere near the best but it was much better with that than with nothing to cushion myself when I slept out in the woods. There was always five to ten minutes at the start of my day when I would lie with my eyes shut to wake myself up properly. This was interrupted today by a strange sensation suddenly starting to spread on my face. Opening my eyes I could see that a leaf had fallen on me from one of the tall trees that surrounded me. The leaf was both green and yellow which told me that it was definitely starting to die off. Cursing lightly, I brushed the leaf off my face, not caring where it ended up. Now I started to hoist myself out of the sleeping bag before rolling it up and putting it in my backpack. This was pretty much the extent of my normal routine in the mornings. People in the districts would have the whole thing of getting dressed, doing their hair, having something for breakfast and all that stuff. In my opinion it just wasted too much time. Of course I would change my clothes every so often and take care of my hair but I didn't go about a whole routine every day. I was very quickly ready to go.
All the walking and travelling I had to do was certainly the most annoying part of my mission to find the mysteries of Panem. There was so much distance to cover between the districts to get to the next one on the list. Being just one person there was little way I could entertain myself to keep things interesting on the walks. Luckily, I was soon due to make a district stop. I was heading towards District 1 since it was one of the places I had never been before. It would be at least a day or two before I made it there but I was already looking forward to it. These feeling were what kept me going whenever I started to get bored and tired. There was also the games that I would play to try and entertain myself. As I was on my own I couldn't really play stuff like I spy so it was always a game of my own making. In addition to the districts, the woods did have some mysteries of it's own I figured. If that was the case then while I was there I might as well take a look around and see if I could spot anything strange and unusual. I have only found plain, ordinary things so far but I always have hope that my little travel game could one day reveal something unique and interesting to me. I kept on walking, humming a little tune to myself. It was a song I had heard when I was at home. It was full of energy and happiness which was why I always liked it so much. Suddenly I fell silent as I heard nearby bushes rustle loudly. There was somebody there, somebody who wasn't very quiet. I stopped in my tracks, really hoping that it wasn't a peacekeeper. If it was I was caught red handed.
